With STAR WARS: The Clone Wars wrapping up another successful season, LucasFilm is apparently planning on branching its franchise off into a different direction.

Variety has just reported that Lucasfilm Animation is developing an animated STAR WARS comedy series for TV. Daytime Emmy and Gemini Award-winner Jennifer Hill (The Backyardians) will produce while Todd Grimes (Back at the Barnyard) will helm the director's chair. The Daily Show writer Brendan Hay will join forces with Robot Chicken creators and exec producers Seth Green and Matthew Seinreich to bring the series to fruition. Green and Seinreich are reported to currently have "creative involvement" with the show.

No word yet when the series will enter into production.

MPP - I'm so glad this is happening. There's so much comedic potential within Star Wars that hasn't been tapped into yet.

Wait. . . what?

well this sounds like a terrible idea. if he wants to do a comedy show with Star Wars, he needs to just pay Seth Green to make Robot Chicken specials.

i'm with Multi, where's the TV show we were promised a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away?

soo... KOTOR is relegated strictly to video games while we get endless spin-offs about this damn "clone" war. Am i the only one who when obi wan and Luke mentioned "the clone wars" in A New Hope pictured something completely different? not really feeling threatened by hundreds of thousands of expendable storm troopers who can't even see the ole wookie prisoner gag coming from a mile a way.

FYI TO LUCAS FILM : NO ONE CARES ABOUT ANIKIN. DARTH VADER IS BARLEY COOL ANYMORE BECAUSE OF WHAT YOU'VE DONE. did you forget LUKE is the freakin' hero!?!?!?!? you've driven this "prequel" thing into the ground. either get off your ass and make ep 7, 8 and 9 or give us some KOTOR movies. with real sith lords and real jedi. none of this "where is padme? NOOOOOOO!!!!" emo bullshit anymore.

this is star WARS. not happy fun space time. how come in the 70's kids, as well as adults (pretty much everyone alive) enjoyed star wars? - but now it's either for kids or for adults? there's no happy medium? GL needs to just sit back an produce. dont ever write anything else. don't ever direct anything else. look what people like Nolan and Favreau have done with other people's ideas. JK Rowling doesn't direct the Potter movies does she? GL - sorry to say, but you sir are out. of. touch.

I thought this "kiddie crap" was actually kinda violent, i think i saw more people executed and way more people (not just droids and aliens) getting stabbed and chopped into bits with lightsabers.. more than in the movies.

I can dig the idea of Green's involvement, and a comedy series from Star Wars could be entertaining...

I do agree with what many have said, though-Gimme the live action series, already!!

@OdinsBeard: KOTOR the series? Way too cool for school, I'd back the idea, and definately watch the show. I'm kinda partial to the Stark-Hyperspace War, myself, although just about anything set in the Old Republic would be seriously kickass.

@TeaBag: Jeezus, man...do you have gifs and jpegs saved on your desktop, just waiting to be used? You seem to have them at the drop of a hat, which leads me to believe that you have a salvo "waitin' to go".

@Multi: Keep the good stories 'a comin', chief...good work.

They made Indy 4, and now want to make Indiana Jones 5, but Lucasfilm won't make any new Star Wars movies, talk about untapped Gold at the Box Office. What else is there more to do? People are making remakes of old movies, why not give in to the fans and make Star Wars Episodes 7,8, and 9. Harrison, Carrie, and Mark are all still alive and would do them in a heartbeat. What else do they have going on, besides making appearances at conventions and signing their names a million times over. George Lucas is a retard, give somebody a chance to direct them, Spielberg, hello???? write the story, have someone else draw up the script PLEASE!! and you have a money maker right there. I thought you liked money George? What happened? You're missing a BIG, HUGE opportunity to make a crap load of money. I want new episodes, bring them on, especially in 3D, that would be incredible. I know they're working on bringing Episodes I-VI to 3D I think in May 2012, so look for those in the near future.

@Grif, lol, I love Soul Calibur 4. I wish they would make a game like this one, where you could pick the Star Wars characters like Darth Maul, Vader, Emperor and put them against Luke, Young or Old Kenobi, Yoda, Mace Windu, or Qui-Gon Jinn and put them in different enviornments from the movies. For instance, the Mos Eisley Cantina, or the reactor core on Naboo, or in the Emperor's chambers. You could make this one game alone and bring in all the actor's from the movies to add dialogue to the fights. I would buy this game in a heartbeat. It would make a killing in the gaming industry.

I swear, if George Lucas doesn't put Boba Fett in his own show.... Or he makes little Boba Fett in the upcoming The Clone Wars tv show in the next couple of weeks look like a wimp..... I will carbonate his @$$. LOL

MisterJoshua@ im dyin' for some more old republic stuff! that seems like the best place to go. you could literally write anything you wanted to. as opposed to doing these prequels that already have established cannon, cannon that GL will most likley f up one way or another.
OdinsBeard
OdinsBeard - 4/5/2010, 5:50 PM
i just realized the irony of my statement that GL could [frick] up cannon HE CREATED. lol.

im not sure how it's possible to love a creation and simultaneously hate the creator....

I'm hoping this materializes just as quickly as the live action series has... and by that I mean not at all.

Phin, your idea for a starwars reboot is sounding better all the time.
BillyBlack

I like the Clone Wars cartoon.

Wish he put that much into the prequels. Well.. I guess I just wish he let someone else write and direct them. Develop the story arc and manage the FX & sound. Leave the actual writing and direction to the people with a TALENT for it.
InstigatorGIRL

I don't like the clone wars cartoon. To me it contradicts everything about Anakin becoming a sith. If they didn't trust him to make him a master and become a member of the counsel then WHY THE [frick] would they give him a padwan?? And in order to train a padwan I thought you had to become a master? WTF??
Anyways... I am actually digging this idea. I love the Robot Chicken spoofs and Family Guy spoofs they do. This will be awesome. Also I disagree about 7,8,& 9. I hope he doesn't do 'em. I mean 1,2,&3 were crap and you want him to do more? Also Hamill, Ford, and Fischer are kinda too old now IMHO. Unless they follow Jacen, Jaina and Anakin but still I don't think so.
