Carrie Fisher Confirms Her Return As Princess Leia In STAR WARS EPISODE VII

Fisher has been dismissive of any questions about her possible involvement in the new trilogy in the past, but in a new interview she is once again asked if she'll return as Leia, and her response couldn't be any more cut-and-dry..

We've heard from Carrie Fisher on a couple of occasions regarding her possible reprisal of Princess Leia in J.J. Abrams' upcoming Star Wars flick and its follow-ups, but she's always been a bit sarcy about it and seemed hesitant to give a straight answer. Well in an interview with Palm Beach Illustrated the actress finally just comes out with it..

Q: Disney is going to continue the Star Wars saga, producing movies set to hit theaters starting in 2015. Can you confirm whether you’ll reprise the role of Princess Leia?

A: Yes.

Notice that's a "yes" to reprising the role, not a "yeah I'm in talks" or a "yes, there's been meetings." - Fisher flat out states she'll be back to play Leia again. Unfortunately she doesn't elaborate any! However she does reveal what she thinks Leia is like today though: "Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home [laughs]. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle." Click the link below for the interview in full.

Why would the mother of three put on the slave outfit?

Anyway, so happy she is returning. Now all we need are Han and Luke to make me truly happy.

@LP4: You weren't the only one making those jokes. I wasn't singling you out. However, the woman is not in her teens anymore...I don't understand why people are ragging on how she looks. I hope that all of you age gracefully since you can point fingers at how she's aged. Not picking a fight here, I'm just saying respect your elders. If she was still in her thirties I could see the judgement, but Ms. Fisher is fifty-six years of age. As I said we all don't age as gracefully as others.

She is supposed to look aged in these new films. She is now the mother of three (please tell me how you'd look after that ordeal), and she has been training in the force while raising her family and helping Luke rebuild the order. With that much stress in her life I would be surprised if she didn't show signs of it in her appearance.

@LEVITIKUZ
Pure speculation here but I would guess that they would choose a different director or at the least make that call before the movie even comes out. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised it they did decide to keep Abrams around, but also feel they'll wanna recapture the feel of the original trilogy and keep fresh blood around.

sephiroth211, I agree. She's a woman of a certain age returning to play the character at that same age. I don't see anyone saying: "Ugh, I hope they don't try to squeeze Luke into that black Jedi outfit again". Just be glad she's back, or if you don't like her acting dont be glad she's back!
