We've known for some time that Disney plans on releasing a new Star Wars film every year, starting with J.J. Abrams' Episode VII in 2015. Now, JoBlo has received a slew of new details on what to expect from some of these movies from a "trusted and reliable source". As previously reported, Disney/Lucasfilm will alternate each year between an official "Episode" of the saga and a stand-alone character spin-off (this schedule can be summed up in the diagram below). Of course, this is just for the first wave of new Star Wars movies, and there's no word on where exactly they'll go afterwards.
The site also says that the first two spin-offs will star
Boba Fett and a young(er)
Han Solo. We heard previously that these two characters would get their own films in the near future, along with Yoda (whose own movie has apparently been shelved due to an animated LEGO series starring the character). The Han Solo film will reportedly revolve around his friendship with Chewbacca,
"potentially on how they met and became partners on the Millennium Falcon." There are no plot details on the Boba Fett movie right now.
Finally, JoBlo has heard the following info on the recently announced
Star Wars: Rebels animated series, which will premiere on Disney XD next year. According to the site, the show will
"feature new characters with appearances from established ones in the original trilogy and will focus on how the rebel alliance was formed to take on the Galactic Empire." The series is directed by Dave Filoni.
