Scrapped BOBA FETT Movie Was Set To Focus On Him And The Bounty Hunters Seen In THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
We recently learned that Lucasfilm is no longer developing a Boba Fett movie as they instead focus on The Mandalorian but a new report sheds some light on what was originally planned for the spinoff...
Last week, Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that Lucasfilm has put the brakes on a Boba Fett movie as the studio instead focuses on developing The Mandalorian for Disney's planned streaming service. Now, Entertainment Weekly has revealed that the movie, which has been in the works since 2013, could be resurrected at some point but is indeed dead for the time being.
According to the site, the plan was to put the spotlight on Fee and the bounty hunters who appeared alongside him on the deck of Darth Vader's Star Destroyer during The Empire Strikes Back.
Whether or not that's an indication it would have taken place around the time of that movie rather than after Return of the Jedi is hard to say but it definitely would have been fun seeing those characters get some attention, especially as they're a) all fan-favourites based on appearance alone and b) have only ever been given any love in comic books and video games up until now.
Unfortunately, Boba Fett has seemingly been cursed from the start as Lucasfilm was planning to show a teaser clip at Star Wars Celebration in 2015 before Fantastic Four director Josh Trank was fired from the project and it was put on hold.
