During an interview with MTV, Benedict Cumberbatch ("Sherlock") was asked if there was any truth to the rumor J.J. Abrams discussed a
‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ role for him. “J.J. and I are friends, so yeah, possibly,” Cumberbatch replied. “But I think J.J. is very good at creating something original out of something known, and
I think apart from his continuing use of Simon Pegg — and who can blame him, frankly — it made sense not to do it.”
Cumberbatch is referring to Abrams past use of Simon Pegg in his “Mission: Impossible” and “Star Trek” franchises, and strongly implies Abrams' upcoming
Star Wars' film. In the past, various websites have reported rumors of Simon Pegg being involved in the film in some capacity. The actor has been quite active with shooting down these rumors via his twitter account. Though, the
Hot Fuzz actor has been spotted on set multiple times but has claimed he was simply there to visit his friend J.J..
