STAR WARS: 5 Year-Old Girl Gives Her Opinion On Princess Leia's "Slave" Outfit

Actor/comedian Adam Buxton has posted an animation of his daughter giving her adorable thoughts on the slave outfit which Jabba the Hutt forces Leia to wear in Return Of The Jedi. Her opinion of this rather skimpy costume may surprise you..

The "Slave-Leia" costume has now become iconic among Star Wars fans, and regularly adorns cosplayers at various cons around the world, year after year. Some think the circumstances behind the character coming to wear this outfit make it degrading, and ultimately just an excuse to get Carrie Fisher into a revealing bikini for a couple of scenes. Of course that may well be true, but certain people have a tendency to take these sorts of things a tad too seriously, and can adopt a "won't someone think of the children" attitude. Well, the video below features a child's opinion on Leia's somewhat controversial costume: she thinks it's pretty. Adam Buxton (one half of the duo "Adam and Joe" along with Attack The Block director Joe Cornish) is a long-time Star Wars fanboy, and animated this very cute vid of his 5 year-old daughter explaining why she feels that although Jabba is a bad guy, he definitely has a good sense of style.

"But it actually is quite nice. I think so. I don't care if people don't think that."

This is my new, polite response when people tell me they don't like Man Of Steel.

Kids logic can actually be great and so wierd. Today I actually overheard my 7 y daughter give her defintion of how tall 2 meters is. "It is as if a stegosaurus is standing ontop of my dad".

This was news to me that anyone had a problem with the costume.
How in the world does that costume say ANYTHING (good or bad) about sexism, equality, feminism, or about the way women and men see each other? An evil character in a movie kidnaps a princess and forces her to wear next to nothing. Yeah? So what? I believe in all that feminist "bull(s)hit" and wish that women were treated better and I STILL approve of the costume in context. It's not as if Marquand, Lucas, or anybody else forced her to wear it for the rest of the movie?
Shower scenes! Do something about shower scenes if you really want to look like you care about the oft times demeaning role of women in movies.

Leia's slave outfit? Give me a break.
