The Mandalorian may be a hit, but Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker - and the sequel trilogy, in general - remains fresh in the minds of fans. That means there are still plenty of people online who feel that Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy should be replaced, with the prevailing opinion among many being that the Star Wars franchise needs someone else calling the shots.
It's been widely rumoured that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, a well-known Star Wars fan, could be someone Disney is eyeing to take charge of the Galaxy Far, Far Away. After all, he is developing a new Star Wars movie for the studio; a move many believe could be what sets the stage for him to eventually be the one who does for that world what he's done for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Asked during a recent interview whether all this speculation has any credence, Feige made it clear he's only working on his own movie, saying, "Not at all."
This will disappoint some fans, of course, but it's also not surprising.
Feige leaving the MCU is impossible to imagine, and regardless of any mistakes made during the Skywalker Saga, Kennedy has definitely delivered more hits for Disney than misses.
There's still no word on what to expect from Feige's Star Wars movie, but we recently learned that Loki's Michael Waldron has been tasked with writing the screenplay. Clearly, the Marvel Studios boss sees something special in the scribe to trust him with bringing his vision to the big screen.
