STAR WARS: RISE OF THE RESISTANCE - Disney Shares First Look Inside Second Attraction Opening At GALAXY'S EDGE

Disney has shared a first look inside Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the second planned attraction for Galaxy's Edge which puts you in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

When Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge welcomes Disney World guests to the planet of Batuu this week, it will be an incomplete experience - as is the version that opened in Disneyland earlier this year. That's because only one of the two planned attractions (Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run) is ready to go. The second, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, won't actually be ready until later this year or early next year, depending on the park.

Disney has been pretty tight-lipped when it comes to its second main attraction, which has only been described as putting guests "in the middle of an epic battle between the Resistance and the First Order."

But today, Disney Parks Blog finally lifted the lid, sharing specific details and offering a first look inside the ride. And it seriously looks like something out of a movie.

Rise of the Resistance is described as one of the "most ambitious, advanced and immersive experiences ever undertaken by Walt Disney Imagineering." It is also one of the largest rides Disney has ever created, housing two full-size AT-AT walkers and a Star Destroyer hangar bay — complete with a TIE fighter and garrison of Stormtroopers (as shown below).

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

As for the premise of the ride, it will "blur the lines between fantasy and reality" as guests will join the Resistance and depart from Batuu in a transport ship to meet General Leia Organa at a secret rendezvous point.

Along the way, however, you will be captured by a First Order Star Destroyer. The action then ramps up as you seek to escape the clutches of Kylo Ren and the First Order – with the help of some heroes of the Resistance.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will open at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge on December 5, 2019 in Disney's Hollywood Studios (in Florida) and January 17, 2020 in Disneyland park (in California).

Hot DAMN I’d love to see those AT-AT Walkers IRL. Maybe this is where we go for our holiday next year... for the kids of course

Pitch this...
‘Hunters Bounty’

You dress as a bounty hunter and allowed to hunt Disney employees in a decorated park land set to look like a Star Wars outworld city/town.

You get taser guns that can really immobilize your prey.

Full size AT-AT, 2 of them. I may need to schedule a trip once this part is open.

Went there this weekend for the first time. It was... disappointing. It doesn't help that I really don't associate Star Wars with the look of the place even though it was a hodge podge of Jakku, Tatooine, and other ran-down SW areas. To me, the SW look has always been the interior of ships and the Death Star - very mechanical and even sterile. Don't get me wrong, that place takes you elsewhere - but not SW to me.

It's also supposed to be a "safe" haven for the Resistance but you have First Order flags in the place.

The Millennium Falcon ride was stupidly fun but I can see it losing its "magic" with repeat rides. The next time I'm coming back will be to just check out the new ride.

Also, I've never seen more dudes pulling their SO's like kids in a candy store. It's cute and all but I guess they'll take what they can get.
