STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI: New Details Revealed On Benicio Del Toro's Devious "Slicer"

Benicio Del Toro's character in Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been a mystery to us for a while but a new report sheds some light on what we should expect from the hacker who's neither a hero nor villain.

There's a lot of intrigue surrounding Benicio Del Toro's new character in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and now some details have finally been revealed on what we should expect from "DJ" courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. The official logline for the character reveals that he's an enigmatic figure whose tattered, threadbare clothes and lackadaisical attitude conceal a sharp mind and expert skills.

DJ will apparently be part of the mission that Finn and Rose undertake when they head to the gambling city of Canto Blight. We have no idea whether they're there to rescue him or capture him but law enforcement surround the casino and that's obviously going to make things tricky for the heroes.

"We just need a codebreaker and he’s the best in the galaxy. Unfortunately, he’s very dodgy and only in it for financial gain. He doesn’t fight for any side." John Boyega says of the ambiguous DJ, a hacker who is known here as a slicer. "He has distinct opinions. The Resistance bombs the First Order one day, the First Order bombs the Resistance on another. It’s an ongoing war that will never end. For him, he’s trying to benefit off of that — which doesn’t make him the person you want to trust."

Kelly Marie Tran meanwhile describes Del Toro's performance as being somewhat disturbing. "When I was onset with that character, I felt like there was a tiger in the room, and I always had to be watching. Like an animal, at any moment he could do something, and I didn’t know what."

It's going to be very interesting seeing what the character brings to the table, don't you think?

Still want him to turn out to be Ezra.

@nonserviam - He is clearly (a) a returning character from canon/legends or (b) he is a relation to someone. Otherwise why not reveal his real name?
I Persoanlly think he is Ezra for legitimate reasons.
(A) he looks like him (as much as live action can look like a cartoon)
(B) he is in the same age range Ezra would be at this time (it believable he is the same age as Luke and Leia)
(C) the first image they released of him if you zoomed into his cheek he has the identical two scars on his cheek that Ezra Recife from the Grand Inquistor.

I think it's great that they are filling the light side with a variety of force weilders as opposed to exclusively Jedi. We have Maz and likely Ezra now. With Luke and Rey (the Jedi).

While I think it'd be really cool if he turns out to be Ezra from Rebels, I just don't think they'd do that with an actor as great as Del Toro.

Here's to hoping he becomes the breakout star/fan favorite that Phasma was meant to be.
