Despite a fairly significant second weekend drop, Disney and Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Last Jedi continues to dominate at the box office.

Rian Johnson's space-adventure took in $21.9M on Wednesday, bringing its domestic running total to $445.26M. This means that it'll comfortably pass the half billion mark by Dec. 31, before going on knock Disney's other smash hit, Beauty and the Beast ($504M), off its perch to become the highest grossing movie of 2017.

Not bad for a flop, eh?

In related news, Sony’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is also performing very well, and has now cleared $100M domestically.

@LEVITIKUZ - Anyone who said it was going to flop is a [frick]ing idiot. I didn't like the movie all that much but I would never say it was going to flop or be a failure.

Disney is owning the world right now. Very smart investments.

@411IDSigo - Yeah....don't really have to be Einstein to figure out that buying Star Wars and Marvel are going to pay off. ;)

@nikgrid - Unless you are WB and have handled your Marvel properties terribly.

@411IDSigo - As someone who invested in Disney in 2004, I agree. Helped me retire before 50.

@Eli - Very smart move on your part and the Fox acquisition is going to help secure the future for your kids.

@411IDSigo - @ Fogs

Thanks! 😀

Forgive me if I sound like a dad, but now is a great time to invest again in Disney. Regulatory hurdles and financing logistics from the Fox deal will cause the stock to atomatically lower for about the next eight months. It will then bounce back up after the deal.

This may be the only time it dips like that for the next 30 years. Good chance to get in. 😉

Anyway, that was probably TMI. I'll spare you any more condescending advice or dad humor LOL. Have a great new year, guys! 😀

B-B-BUT IT WON'T BE ENOUGH FOR THIS MOVIE TO MAKE MONEY. IT NEEDS TO MAKE TWICE AS MUCH AS TFA, BECAUSE IT'S A SEQUEL. WHAT A FLOP. EPISODE 9 MUST BE CANCELED. R.I.P.
