LOL at Darth Vader.

Overall, I don't give a shit about Abrams as the director. It better be good or I will trash him and the movie to no end.

And before some moron says it, NO, it's not guaranteed it'll be good either.

I have to admit, I wasn't a big fan of his Star Trek. Nonetheless, I'll stay optimistic for Episode VII.

Im very excited to see an Abrams helmed Star Wars. It's the closest thing I'll ever get to a Spielberg one.

Abrams isn't really a visionary director. He'll do what he normally does: deliver fast paced fun films. Beyond that, I wouldn't expect much else. His Star Trek films were basically Star Wars films anyway. All the stuff in the first film on the snow planet with the monsters, etc. Totally Star Wars.

seriously, everyone complaining about JJ is going to complain no matter who would have been decided. JJ is a great choice. I don't know if anything will ever live up to the original trilogy, because times have changed and it's so much harder to please everyone these days. But i think JJ will not let down. May not be better than the originals, but i'm sure it'll be better than ep 1-3 and will def feel like Star Wars.

My main concern is that it feels like the original trilogy.

Who says he's jumping ship? He's a talented guy, surely he could do Star Wars AND finish his Star Trek trilogy? Anyway, my faith in new Star Wars is growing with everything I hear so far.

Bendis makes a good point. No matter what happens, JJ's gonna catch hell from some fans about this movie. I'm still excited though.

@marcvader could you clarify what you mean? Do you mean that is concerns you that it could? Or that it concerns you that it might not?

So Abrams is a long time SW fan, he says. But does anyone know what he thinks of E1-3? Wouldn't like a hater to direct E7. Time has passed and things have changed in the movie industry. You cannot make a SW film like the OT anymore, with models instead of cgi and all that. But considering JJ's Star Trek movies he won't be that fatuous, I think.

Now let's just hope they come up with a great script i. e. a overall good plot, a good explanation why there still is a Sith (without cloning and without someone being trained by a Sith force ghost) and this can be sooooooooooooooooo epic. Do guys, stay epic.

The only similarities between Star Wars and Star Trek are, They are the two biggest Sci Fi Franchises, and they have "Star" At the beginning of their titles.

Star Trek is set in the distant future, Star Wars is a completely different universe.

Telling JJ Abrams, that he can't direct Star Wars, because he's already directed Star Trek, is like telling another director that he can't make a Drama/Mystery movie because he already made a Action/Epic movie.

ndwwrestler2@ I think he's saying that if it might not concern you that he moght be concerned that it does, then he might be concerned that you might not be concerned that it doesn't, but that if it does then he migh not be concerned that you might not be concerned that he mnight be concerned if it does. I think.

I guess people should have also told Ronald Moore he couldn't tackle Battlestar Galactica after working on Star Trek for 9 years. I'm pretty sure JJ knows what he's undertaking (if this is in fact true) and the fan backlash he'll recive should he fail (which I'm pretty sure, he won't). There will still be folks that won't be happy regardless of how good it is; and to them I say, "whatever."

DukeAcureds - 1/25/2013, 10:33 AM
As long as JJ uses a gorram tripod, in this movie! I don't want no Blair Sith Project, y'know? The original trilogy was made when people could afford bloody tripods. It seems the triple-dip has turned every blockbuster director into pretentious "mavericks".
DukeAcureds
DukeAcureds - 1/25/2013, 10:37 AM
Just look at that conversation that Kirk has with Pike, in the bar in Iowa. Hold the bloody camera still!!! Stop drawing attention to the fact thatit's hand-held. If you're gonna go hand-held then get a brick shit-house with a steady hand, you pretentious fvcks!!! This is Star Trek not the french fvcking new wave!!! You're not an independant shoe-string-budget '90s movie!!! Buy a bleeding tripod!!!!!
