As we swiftly approach March, Warner Bros. has just released the official theatrical poster for Steven Spielberg's eagerly-awaited Ready Player One, which stars Tye Sheridan (X-Men: Dark Phoenix) and Olivia Cooke (Thoroughbreds) in the lead roles.

The new retro-style poster gives us our first real look at each member of the High Five, which consists of Parzival (Tye Sheridan), Art3mis (Olivia Cooke),
Aech (Lena Waithe), Daito (Win Morisaki), and Shoto (Philip Zhao). We're also treated with new images of James Halliday (Mark Rylance) and Og Morrow (Simon Pegg) as well as the film's villain, Nolan Sorrento (Ben Mendelsohn).

Check out a new banner above and the new poster below:

The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance). When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger.

Ready Player One features:
Director: Steven Spielberg
Tye Sheridan as Wade Owen Watts/Parzival

@MarkV - sigh. with a book with that many references (and potential legal pains in the a**) something was bound to be left out or changed for the movie.

I know it's just nostalgia wanking but...god dammit, the Swordfish from Cowboy Bebop is flying over the original RX-78-2 Gundam. I love that sh*t.

@Spidey91 - I wish we could get a live action Cowboy Beebop Netflix series. I think it could be really amazing.

@Spidey91 - I'm disappointed in myself. Hadn't realized that that was the good ol' Swordfish. This [frick]ing film is bringing fan-service and nostalgia to a whole new damn level. As if Olivia Cooke and Tye Sheridan (two of my favorite young actors) on a 80's film (my favorite era), directed by Spielberg wasn't enough, they just throw a little nod to my favorite Anime of all time there. I'm [frick]ing dying.

If the RX-78-2 Gundam doesn't get a good amount of screen time I'm gonna skip this one.

@TexasAvenger - sadly, I think it will get shafted at some point so the Iron Giant can deliver the victory during the climax. WB property and all, and it's in front of the Gundam in both the poster and the banner.

@Spidey91 - That's what I'm thinking too, and I love the Iron Giant, so I wouldn't be too bummed about it. Still tho... that Gundam tho!

Very keen to see this as I enjoyed the book (for the most part). My daughter will get sick of me pointing out all the different 80’s references haha

I absolutely loved the book. Looking forward to the movie as well. Combining an awesome book with Stephen Spieldburg is going to be great.
