Three high school friends gain the superhuman abilities of telekinesis, flight, and invulnerability after making an incredible discovery in a mysterious crater. Soon, though, they find their lives spinning out of control and their bond tested as one of them, Andrew Detmer, embraces his darker side.

Thanks to Coming Soon, check out the new clip below, which sees the character of Andrew Detmer (Dane DeHaan) abusing his power..

Early reviews for the movie have been highly positive, but still; judge it for yourself when Chronicle hits the theaters on February 1 in the United Kingom, and on February 3 in the United States.

Looks like a CW show to me. Geared toward that type of demographic, which is fine, but not for me. More of a Push for teenage/college kids.

I still don't understand why it had to be a found footage movie.

Couple theories though.

1. Weak script. But perhaps the movie doesn't need excellent dialogue to be effective. Just show the abuse of powers and call it a day, right?

2. The shaking/moving camera helps to mask special effects that created on the cheap. I remember the director in District 9 talking about the special effects budget could be kept low b/c of the hand cam filming approach.

Black guy dies when he gets struck by lighning while flying with emo guy-emo guy's mom ,who has some illness, needs meds and his father uses all their money for booze so emo guy decides to rob gas station after destroying neighbourhood bullies - robbery goes awry, a bunch of people get killed in an explosion and emo guy gets burned - while in hospital emo guy's dad visits and starts abusing his son while he's comatose and badly burned - he eventually comes to and tears his father apart like a spider he killed earlier on (from here on you could watch the middle of AKIRA and it would be almost scene for scene until the last part of the confrontation) - emo guy escapes hospital and goes on rampage - only other remaining guy in the group goes after him in his girlfriends car and eventualy they get into a fight - ending with emo guy dead after the other dude impales him and sends a bullet through his head - the other dude gets dragged off by the government where instaed of helping him they almost leave him to die until he spontaneously pulls a Wolverine and heals himself - in a cheesy epilogue the surviving dude becomes a superhero
