We know that the timeline Kyle Reese travels back to in Terminator Genisys will be a lot different to the one featured in The Terminator, but the recently released trailer for the movie did little to clear up what exactly is going on! Talking to Empire Online, star Arnold Schwarzenegger (who returns as an aged T-800) revealed: "The story has changed, so I am like a combination of the characters who you have seen in the past. He is a powerful and potentially evil kind of machine that can be very destructive if I see that a there is danger from me or for the victory against the machines. I can switch over to being the protector of Sarah Connor. It depends where we are in this storyline."

The beginning of Terminator: Genisys, the first of three planned films that Paramount hopes will relaunch the beloved sci-fi franchise, is set in 2029, when the Future War is raging and a group of human rebels has the evil artificial-intelligence system Skynet on the ropes. John Connor (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Jason Clarke) is the leader of the resistance, and Kyle Reese (Divergent‘s Jai Courtney) is his loyal soldier, raised in the ruins of post apocalyptic California. As in the original film, Connor sends Reese back to 1984 to save Connor’s mother, Sarah (Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator programmed to kill her so that she won’t ever give birth to John. But what Reese finds on the other side is nothing like he expected.

Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, Emilia Clarke, Matt Smith, Byung-hun Lee, Courtney B. Vance, and J.K. Simmons, Terminator Genisys is set to be released on July 1st.

Jason Clarke needs to be in a CBM. I'd pick him for Two Face or Reverse Flash.

Cast sounds amazing on paper but this plot seems pretty convoluted!!

There seems to be a lack of matt smith in the advertising for this movie. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE!!

So bored of this never ending war. "Skynet on the ropes!" (yawn). I don't mean to sound like a troll, it just feels like the same old story and so loses any sense of real urgency

@MrNiklander well all i've heard is that he has a supporting role in this first movie. But becomes a much bigger role if the sequels are ever made.

@MrNiklander Where did you hear about the screening results? Sounds Interesting.

@MrNiklander but at least have him in the advertising, all we've seen him in two pictures. Nothing in any of the advertising. I mean we need some footage of him. And the photos weren't flattering. Give me a bad ass scene like this.

Not, this.

I've never seen Jai Courtney in a movie before. Is he really that bad?

The movie better have a good explanation for the alternate timeline. I doubt it could be as clever as Star Trek.

Terminator has to eventually end with humans destroy skynet before the time machine is built. Otherwise the loop will never close.

I'm looking forward to the movie. I was bummed when terminator salvation didn't end.

MCG made a damn good looking movie. Although skynet's goal was dumb...
