Tim Burton's PLANET OF THE APES Gets "Honest Trailer" & "Everything Wrong With"

With 20th Century Fox's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is set to debut soon, Screen Junkies have put together an "Honest Trailer" for Tim Burton's 2001 film, Planet of the Apes. While Cinema Sins has an "Everything Wrong With" video for it as well.

After a spectacular crash-landing on an uncharted planet, brash astronaut Leo Davidson (Mark Wahlberg) finds himself trapped in a savage world where talking apes dominate the human race. Desperate to find a way home, Leo must evade the invincible gorilla army led by ruthless General Thade (Tim Roth) and his most trusted warrior, Attar (Michael Clarke Duncan). Now the pulse-pounding race is on to reach a sacred temple that may hold the shocking secrets of mankind's past - and the last hope for it's salvation! Based on Pierre Boulle's classic novel "Planet of the Apes," the premise for this film has become one of the most recognized and provocative concepts in the canon of science fiction literature and cinema. Visionary filmmaker Tim Burton (Batman, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow) has taken Boulle's basic idea and built upon it a uniquely envisioned journey to an incredible upside-down world.

Actors: Mark Wahlberg Tim Roth Helena Bonham Carter Michael Clarke Duncan Kris Kristofferson
Director: Tim Burton * Screenwriters: Lawrence Konner Mark Rosenthal William Broyles Jr.

These insulting trailers are always good for a laugh.
This movie wasn't that bad...Paul Giamatti,Michael Clarke Duncan,Tim Roth, those guys really did channel their inner monkey.
I liked the cameo by Charelton Heston, this film was a good bookend to the original movies from the 60's.

Burton's PotA was horrendously repugnant in every aspect other than the updated Ape makeup, specifically considering what the original 5 films managed to accomplish for science fiction, world building, and franchise crafting.

I find it funny that some people still think that Rise and Dawn are continuations of this movie.

Walberg is a crap-shoot when it comes to acting.
In some movies his vacant ditzy style works, but in most it doesn't.

In this movie he seemed VERY aware of the camera.

The makeup was great and the ending is almost the same from the book. I mean, everyone complains about the whole movie and the ending but in the book, the original novel, they did travel to another world ruled by apes and at the end they returned to an Earth with apes walking, talking and driving jeeps
smgmayhem
smgmayhem - 7/1/2014, 1:50 PM
@MasterAlex - Thank you for that input. It just goes to show how many wanna be POTA fan boys are in here lol. @JorL again "nonsensical" really? Because after what he just commented it makes your comment really seem NONSENSICAL....

smgmayhem - 7/1/2014, 1:51 PM
You all bash about how it ruined the franchise and this and that but he actually stayed close to the source of the novel. What do you all have to say about that ending now?
