The previous stills we have seen from Gary Ross's take on this popular story have been a little bland, but these at least let us know that we will be in for some action. And if nothing else get to see Josh Hutcherson beat up. The Hunger Games hits March 23rd 2012 and there are plans for a comic book adaptation at some point also.

Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. Part twisted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, the Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains.

Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

This is not going to be a new Twilight. Sorry you don't get Woody Harrelson in Twilight-type movie- and this story has strong characters that have real problems/ conflict.

I really like the books, but I'm having mixed feelings about the movie.

I did actually attempt to read this book. Not nearly enough antisemitism.

I would get frisky with sugar tits Lawrence though.

@Optimus New Twilight? really? - I forgot that Hunger Games was about vampires ... oh wait, it's not.

Don't make a comparison with 2 opposite things.

this thing won't be anything like twilight!
many movies based off books have been GREAT...lets see...oh yeah Harry Potter, that was such a big success! not every book based movie is bad.

tweeeeenkies@ There's a difference between looking dirty from being in a battle as opposed to inherently looking scraggly from their life in the MIning District and then being out in the wilderness. They look like a couple healthy kids who had a tough day.

I'm probably making a big mistake but after researching this story I just can't get interested in it. It seems mediocre. I want big action , drama, and boobs.

How do they manage to be so beautiful, so well fed and with such wonderful skin in a Post-apocalyptic world?
Look at their spoiled expressions? They never had a day of hard work in their entire lifes.

@Ranger14...Yeahh, i get what you mean... But i guess it's hard to find skinnier teenagers these days, in hollywood.
and with a book this famous and well known, i don't think they would go with unknown people...

This should be great if done right. I really enjoyed the books. However, Hutcherson just does not look like Peeta. He needs blonde hair. Hopefully he acts like Peeta more than he looks like him.

@Ranger14 So do you really want them to cast a group of malnourished actors? let's think realistically here.

I'm thinking these are pics of them at the start of the battle in the arena, they actually are well-fed because she feed her family and herself by hunting outside the boundaries plus Peeta wouldn't be malnourished because he lived in town and was a baker's son so they wouldn't look as malnourished.

The plus side they have some really great actors playing the roles so this could be a really good franchise over the next couple of years.
