Despite an intriguing premise and a heavy marketing push, Luc Besson's latest directorial venture, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets didn't exactly resonate with American critics and audiences this past summer, resulting in a disappointing $40.3 million domestic haul. Overseas, it managed to perform slightly better, grossing a fairly decent $179.2 million from international territories and bringing its worldwide total to just over $219.5 million. However, with a massive $177.2 million production budget, this final tally makes the highly-ambitious film one of this summer's biggest bombs.

Earlier this week, Lionsgate Home Entertainment officially announced that the Dane DeHaan-led film will arrive on Digital HD on November 7 before making its way to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD on November 21.

The press release adds that hardcore fans will get to enjoy an all-new Valerian experience if they pick up the film on home video. "The 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray versions feature Dolby Atmos audio remixed specifically for the home-theater environment, to place and move audio anywhere in the room, including overhead. The 4K Blu-ray release also features Dolby Vision high dynamic range (HDR), growing Lionsgate's library of titles featuring both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos."

I didn't think Valerian was that bad. Certainly could have been better.

This movie was hilarious. It's an awful film - it looks really good at times though - but it's a blast to watch with friends. A friend of mine described it as "Sharkboy and Lavagirl, but with Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne"

If you don't take this film seriously and watch it with a few friends; you'll have a lot of fun
