War for the Planet of the Apes is shaping up to be the biggest and best instalment of the franchise to date and takes us one step closer to an actual Planet of the Apes. Whether or not that's the plan for the fourth chapter remains to be seen but director Matt Reeves is moving on to The Batman (if it ever really happens) as soon as this one reaches theaters, so it's going to be interesting seeing what's next.

For now, though, we have the final trailer for War for the Planet of the Apes and it. Is. Seriously. Epic!

There are definitely some big plot points revealed here and a lot of key action scenes but if you weren't already massively excited for the movie, you most definitely will be after giving this trailer a watch.

What are you most looking forward to seeing in the movie? Share your thoughts in the usual place.

In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.

The amount of quality this trilogy has is amazing. Like seriously, it's rare when you can make a great reboot... Then an even better sequel, and finish it off with the best one.

Matt Reeves...

I couldn't get into these series.

I thought Rise was ok, couldn't get into Dawn (thought it was boring), but reviews of War made me instantly purchase tickets for it.

Before it, I am doing a Rise/Dawn marathon and giving the series another chance!

This series has been the dark horse of the summer ever since the first one. I've never been openly invested in the Apes franchise but they've been killing it since they've rebooted.

Long ago, John Landis said in an interview that the only thing to aim for in making a good movie was execution. Forget original ideas, because there are none. It's all in the execution. These Apes movies prove that. They are the complete opposite of the Transformers films. Both Apes and Transformers are completely outrageous ideas. Apes films are done with craftsmanship and reverence for the material. Transformers are done with complete exploitative ends, and a seeming ignorance of the source material.

AS a former skeptic of this reboot I'm glad to see so much well deserved love for this excellent series.
