Star Wars: The Clone Wars (TCW) is by far the best animated series on TV! On July 23, 2010 at the San Diego Comic-Con; Craig Glenday, editor of the Guinness World Records recognized the cartoon series "the highest rated sci-fi animation currently on television". It started off by being the most-watched series premiere in Cartoon Network history and up until today the show just keeps getting better. So why would Lucasfilms even consider ending such a successful program? Because George Lucas said that regardless of the ratings, he would like to make about 100 episodes. Episode 100 would be in the middle of Season 5, so the series is likely finish at the end of next season.
TCW is my favorite animated series but I really wouldn't mind seeing it come to an end but before I get into why, I would firstly like to go through what makes this show so addictive in the first place... 1. Stunning Visuals I've mentioned in articles before how important the art direction is for a animated show. Well needless to say that TCW has no equal in this department. It's been declared by many to be the most photo-realistic animated TV series ever produced. From the actor inspired character designs to the flawless animation, anyone could watch this show just for how good it looks!
2. Amazing Writing One of the things that blows me away about TCW writing is that half of the story arcs don't even focus on the show's main characters yet I enjoy these arcs as much if not more... That is proof of exceptional writing!
The different story arcs go so deep into each character, gives us tons of development and explore all kinds of subjects that us viewers can relate to.
3. Quality, Talent & Workmanship This show would not be the same if those working on it did not put their heart and souls into it! The voice actors and staff love the show so much that they take the time to watch episodes in theaters! I hope that one day I'll be able to do that and really soak in all the special effects and subtleties that the creators leave for us but thaat we constantly miss when watching it online or on our TVs.
So that being said, is it really the right decision to make next season the last? I think so... You can only tell so many stories without messing with the continuity of the films. That's why I suggest they fast forward to the future! Have the last scene of the season five finale be of a jedi teaching to a group children... "And those are the untold tales of the clone wars". The Jedi's face would be revealed as a middle aged Luke Skywalker. This would set the stage for Lucas Arts to start a new series based on the "New Jedi Order" book collection. The series begins twenty-one years after the Rebel Alliance destroyed the second Death Star. The New Republic is facing internal conflict while trying to maintain peace. A new, powerful enemy, known as the Yuuzhan Vong, emerges from the outer galaxy, beginning what will be known as the Yuuzhan Vong invasion. The Jedi, along with the New Republic, struggle to resist this new alien race while it steadily pushes forward, annihilating or occupying different parts of the galaxy. It would features the Solo kids, Grand Master Luke Skywalker and many known and unknown characters...
So basically what I'm saying is Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a recipe for success but that instead of trying to tell more clone wars stories they should make a identical show telling stories that happen after the movie continuity... Thoughts?
