SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS Poster Sees The New Marvel Legend Unleash His Superpowers

Marvel Studios has shared another new poster for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, this time putting the spotlight squarely on the title hero as he seemingly wields the power of the Ten Rings!

With Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings now right around the corner, Marvel Studios has dropped another poster for the movie. As you can see, the latest addition to the MCU looks set to be quite the powerhouse as he makes use of the Ten Rings (well, we count six of them here, anyway).

Whether he'll continue to use the rings moving forward remains to be seen, but there's actually something else that jumps out at us in the Tweet sent out by the movie's official account.

It looks like "exclusively" has now been dropped from "exclusively in theaters September 3," and that leaves us to wonder whether Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is now destined for a Disney+ "Premier Access" release for $29.99. The Suicide Squad just opened lower than expected, so this could be a good way to counter the negative effects of COVID-19.

Check out the new poster below:

Simu Liu, meanwhile, has shared his reaction to the poster as he reflects on how his path to playing Shang-Chi began. The actor also posted a fun video of him in Times Square as the latest TV spot for the Marvel Studios movie is displayed on one of the massive screens in the background. Awesome, right?

"Marvel Studios’ 'Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings' stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization," reads a brief synopsis shared by Marvel Studios a couple of months ago.

The movie also stars Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, as well as Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu and Ronny Chieng. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by David Callahan, Destin Daniel Cretton, and Andrew Lanham the movie is set to be released theatrically on September 3, 2021.

I like the original logo more, but oh well. I think this movie is going to be special.

Nothing about this movie’s marketing blows me away, and if it wasn’t an MCU movie, I wouldn’t see it.

@santoanderson - Yeah, outside of Tony Leung it looks a bit generic. Was hoping the action would hew closer to Asian cinema, but all the snippets they’ve shown off just reminds me of Kingsman (which I guess makes sense given its the same stunt co-ordinator - RIP)

Then don't watch it? If it does not interest you without the tie to the concept of being part of the MCU then it's not a film you are likely to enjoy...

@tmp3 -

he is isn't the only guy the got to help with the action, they've also had people from mainland China come and help with the action.

If this is a massive flop like Suicide Squad

Then Hollywood will be in massive Panic

@WakandaTech - It will do better than Suicide Squad because its Marvel but better than F9 or Black Widow's opening numbers is going to be difficult. Nobody cared about Suicide Squad even leading up to its release but the buzz for the next Marvel film is still really high even for Venom 2.

I think DC is just dead if its not a major character like Wonder Woman, Superman, or Batman. I think Shazam 2 will flop, black adamn will only make bank due to the rock's brand, and Flashpoint is not even a Flash solo film its going to be more of a sequel to Burton's Batman.

Great looking poster. Like I keep saying "Marvel Studios Don't Know How To Fail."

@DoubleD -
- Black Widow failed to break-even and she's a core Avenger.
- Shang Chi is likely to fail to break-even and he's the first new Phase 4 MCU hero

Marvel Studios failed with Black Widow and now they look set to fail with Shang -Chi.

@Scarilian - it won't, do you know why? Because it's NOT on Disney plus. It's going to make more money than Black Widow, sorry ScarJo.

If people think Black Widow and The Suicide Squad underperformed....

Just wait and see how well Shang-Chi and Eternals do.

I think Spider-Man because of how popular the character is, will be the only comic book movie to do well this year.

@marvel72 - I think Shang Chi might be "ok", but feel Eternals is absolutely going to bomb.
Webster614
Webster614 - 8/9/2021, 9:37 AM
@Webster614 - Meaning at the box office. I think Shang Chi will be a great movie, just do OK at the box office. I have no interest in Eternals and think that'll completely bomb.

Black Widow did not under-perform, it flopped. It failed to break-even and after all the delays, regardless of what happens with the lawsuit, it lost Disney money.

Shang Chi is almost certainly going to flop, if not be a complete box office bomb. It had around $100m extra spent on it due to all the delays of filming so we are looking at a break-even point of around $500m. It's tracking less than Black Widow also.

Eternals will get pushed back to March 2022.
Spider-man NWH will get pushed back to May 2022
Doctor Strange 2 will get pushed back to June 2022

Everything else released in 2022 Marvel related will be dependent on those three films. They may attempt a Thor 4 release in November if those three do well.

@Scarilian -

Black widow didn't flop it made, 60 million on Disney plus and that's without the additional, box office that it's currently made adding up to 359 million.

And it hasn't finished making its money, and this is without China. Let's see if it get released in China before we, count it out.

Plus black widow currently is the biggest, domestic box office.

If Black widow flop then many movies flop this year as well.

Shang Chi hasn't even released its tracking, so how can you say it's tracking less than black widow. You sound like you want this movie to bomb, and this movie can potentially beat black widow, if they stick to cinema only.

Especially if free guys does well, only being a theater release.

Then Shang Chi will more than likely follow and it being an mcu movie, and only theater release will help it bring in money.

@Webster614 - I don't think any will bomb, we've only seen one trailer for eternal. I expect the 2nd trailer to really hype more people up.

Shang chi will do better than the suicide squad, and can potentially do better than black widow

@MikeDrop1 - They both may do better than The Suicide Squad but the bar isn't set very high to begin with.

Out of the current slate of mcu movies this year this is the one I’d be most gutted for if it ends up being a disappointment

Is this movie still blocked from premiering in China? The filmmakers took the time and care to erase every trace of Yellow Peril from this movie, but it doesn't seem like China cares. A release there could really help this movie.
