Shazam! on the big screens of IMAX this weekend will receive an extra treat as Warner Bros. has announced that a special five-minute preview of
Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be shown ahead of the upcoming superhero movie. The preview is exclusive to IMAX theaters.
Shazam! is
expected to outperform initial box office expectations thanks to positive word of mouth and glowing reviews, so attaching the
Godzilla sequel to the movie makes perfect sense for Warner Bros. In addition to making more moviegoers aware of the blockbuster, IMAX presents a wonderful opportunity to fully appreciate the sheer scale of these Titans. What better way to experience these beasts coming to life than on a screen as big as the one IMAX offers?
Unfortunately, what this also means is that we're probably not getting a new trailer as many expected when a reel was rated by the MPAA board recently. It's now clear that the five-minute run time was actually for this sneak peek, so you're going to have to check out
Shazam! in IMAX if you want to see it. That said, with still a few weeks to go until
Godzilla's release, we can probably expect more TV spots as marketing ramps up.
Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
