Don't look for the Brokeback Mountain star to be the Big Red Cheese after all.

Shazam! screenwriter John August denied rumors that Jake Gyllenhaal (Zodiac, Brokeback Mountain) has been cast as Captain Marvel in the movie.

"But the thing is, he's not considering," August wrote on his official website. "I can pretty much assure you he's never heard of the project. And we've never discussed him. We've never seriously discussed anyone."

There's no casting list, August continued, but if there were Gyllenhaal would probably be on it."[B]ut trust me: there is no list. There's no start date, no release date, no movie whatsoever. There's just a script to be written. Which I should probably get back to."

Peter Segal will direct the film for New Line Cinema.
