"Just say the word..."
It appears that the SHAZAM film is starting to gain some steam with production set to begin sometime in February 2018, reports Heroic Hollywood. This production start date works well for the young hero's first big screen outing, as the film is set to release April 5th, 2019.
According to their sources, rumored director David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation) has now signed on to helm the film, with Henry Gayden (Earth to Echo) writing the script.
Originally, SHAZAM was supposed to be one movie but was later split into two, one being a Black Adam standalone starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as the titular villain, who is also the main villain for SHAZAM. It is also being produced by New Line Cinema, a subsidiary of Warner Bros., and The Rock's very own Seven Bucks Productions, but it's been confirmed that the films would take place in the DC Extended Universe.

UPDATE: Looks like The Rock may not appear in SHAZAM after all.
