SHAZAM Director Reveals When The DC Comics Adaptation Will Be Released

We may know that Shazam is coming sometime in 2019 but the release date has remained a mystery up until now. Well, director David F. Sandberg has revealed when exactly the DC Comics movie hits theaters.

It wasn't too long ago that we thought Shazam had been delayed in order for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to take centre stage in a Black Adam movie but things changed and director David F. Sandberg is now hard at work bringing Billy Batson to the big screen. Based on when the DC Comics adaptation starts shooting, we're expecting the movie to hit in 2019 but we now have a confirmed release date.

During a recent Reddit Q&A, Sandberg was asked about when we'll see Shazam on the big screen and replied, "April 2019. It takes a long time to make vfx heavy movies." Warner Bros. actually has an untitled DC Comics movie set for April 5th, 2019 so that's obviously the slot this one is going to take. 

It remains to be seen whether or not Black Adam will show up in Shazam but you have to believe the door is open to him making some sort of cameo appearance. Shooting is currently expected to start next May in Toronto and WWE Superstar John Cena is among those being eyed for the titular role. Are you excited to see Shazam brought to theaters in the same year as Avengers 4 and Captain Marvel?

I’m not to familiar with Shazam but I have some questions.

1. Is the Rock’s Black Adam going to be in the film?
2. What other villains could Shazam fight if Black Adam isn’t involved?
3. Is that Black Adam film still happening?
4. If Shazam fights Black Adam, will people bitch and moan like they did when it was revealed that Killmonger will wear a suit like Black Panther & fight him?

@Killuminatic - yeah!!! I saw!! It was a really fun movid, like my stomach hurt from the laughter, I liked hela as a villain, and funny enough people got triggered when I said she was as developed as aldrich killian, who is my favorite mcu villain, but yeah, everything was great, except for me, I didnt like the way surtur was used, but other than that, it is the most unique and original movie in the mcu!!

I never thought of Shazam as an important character so I wish we were getting The Flash, Man of Steel 2, or The Batman instead of this.

But at least the director is both talented and passionate. Should be a good movie.

@Supercat6376 - plus it's different then anything marvel has put out. Which is good I think it can do well and kids could love a superhero like them. It could do really well.
