New SHAZAM: FURY OF THE GODS Set Photos Find Zachary Levi's Hero In A Battle-Damaged Costume

Some more photos from the set of Shazam: Fury of the Gods have now been shared online, and this time Zachary Levi's updated costume is looking a little the worse for wear as does battle with an unseen foe.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg recently shared an official behind-the-scenes shot of the Shazam Family in an effort to get the jump on the inevitable set photos being shared online, and he was wise to do so, because the leaks keep coming!

These latest snaps feature star Zachary Levi shooting a scene in full costume as the titular hero as he seemingly faces off against and unseen foe. There does appear to be some sort of rig or stand-in to represent whoever - or whatever - Shazam is doing battle with, but it's difficult to tell from the angles.

One thing we can see is that the Big Red Cheese's new duds have taken significant damage from the fight and seem to be badly burned. Is he taking on one of the daughters of Atlas here... or maybe even Atlas himself?

The most recent video showed West Side Story star Rachel Zegler filming a scene in a golden superhero outfit, which looks quite similar to the colorful duds sported by the Shazam Family. Zegler is believed to be playing a villain, but some recently leaked details about her character suggest that she might be posing as an ally of Billy Batson (Asher Angel) and Freddy Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer) in an attempt to gain their trust.

That's just speculation based on the information available, but at the time she was cast, Zegler was said to have taken on the role of the youngest of three sisters, and we know Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu will play villainous sisters Hespera and Kalypso.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods is set to hit theaters on June 2, 2023.

They toned down the hair dye this time. Nice.

@BlackBeltJones - The first set pictures showed it with a jet black dye. Maybe they don't need it for this scene or they thought they really didn't need it after filming for a bit.

Cant wait for this movie. Hopefully this actually lives up to the first film or is better

I recently rewatched the first movie as it was on TV the other night and I was reminded how likable Zach is in the role. Its still a very enjoyable movie to watch. The cast is stacked for the follow up so I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

Im loving the new aesthetic of the suit.

DC’s future looking bright, figuratively and literally.

Thanks God Snyder’s bland and lifeless suits are no more and we can actually get some color in these films.

@Cbmfilmjunkie - Muted color grading sure.
Bland and lifeless suits?

This suit takes that design aesthetic.

The BVS suit was quite bright but the color grading really brought down certain color values.

Aquaman's JL suit has a ton of visually interesting detail.......that's muted by the color grading even in the real version of the film.

So yes to no more muting colors but the suit aesthetics are something Marvel can learn from.

By that I really mean Marvel should have Ironhead design more of the suits which they already did for Scarlet Witch and Black Panther.

The first one doesn't get enough credit. It's actually a mostly coherent film in a sea of indecipherable insanity.

With your new found fame and fortune, and working in the industry I’m sure you can have one of your minions change it.

@Oberlin4Prez - Gosh, that makes me miss Scream Queens...

They all deserve CBM roles. (I'm still bummed Glenn Powell didn't get cast as Guy Gardner.)

Dude yes ! All of them deserve CBM roles. Honestly Emma Roberts would have killed it as Harley Quinn.
And Diego Boneta as Spider-Man 2099.

I really don't like that the Shazam Family was already made up in the first movie. IT should've been a big event in the third movie. Now why tf should we care about Shazam?

@kazuma - They were introduced in his first new52 story. If they stick to the comics, Shazam is splitting his power and so he's not fighting at full strength.
Otherwise the threats are just pretty powerful. Do remember why the Wizard was the only one left to begin with.

My goodness!
Could Captain Marvel have finally met his match?!
Tune in next week!

Also,
Levi looks older. Sometimes you can’t tell the passage of time between films but he looks like he put on some years.

Wish he had more of that classic Shazam look, like the wavey hair and squinty eyes, dimples. One thing about Shazam is that he had a very distinctive face compared to a Bruce Wayne or Clark.

This is such a big upgrade from the way he looked in the first one. Really makes me wonder if Black Adam is gonna have a similar suit
