Why do studios still release trailers in 1080p when 4K is an option? Your guess is as good as ours, but we're definitely grateful to Shazam! Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg for sharing the latest trailer in the highest definition possible.
There's no new footage to be found here, but we're sure you'll enjoy watching Shazam battle a giant dragon in glorious 4K quality.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the filmmaker addressed the upcoming Shazam! sequel's tonal shift. "The kids are older now," he started. "I mean, they grew up super fast! So, we can't play them quite as young as we did in the first one. We have to sort of lean into that."
"Zach is so good because he is that kid at heart in real life," Sandberg continues. "But he also has serious range, and I think it's nice he gets to show some of that in this one. It's not just like, 'Wow, I get to be a superhero!' He actually has to take some responsibility and save the world this time."
While the Shazam! franchise's future remains uncertain as DC Studios' James Gunn and Peter Safran prepare to reboot the DCEU as the DCU, we're definitely excited to check this movie out. If it's a massive box office hit, then Billy Batson's adventures may well continue in this new era of storytelling.
