SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS - Relive The Newest Trailer With An Epic 4K Version Shared By David F. Sandberg

Filmmaker David F. Sandberg has shared a 4K version of the latest Shazam! Fury of the Gods trailer, giving fans the chance to relive all the biggest and best moments in the highest definition possible...

Why do studios still release trailers in 1080p when 4K is an option? Your guess is as good as ours, but we're definitely grateful to Shazam! Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg for sharing the latest trailer in the highest definition possible.

There's no new footage to be found here, but we're sure you'll enjoy watching Shazam battle a giant dragon in glorious 4K quality.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the filmmaker addressed the upcoming Shazam! sequel's tonal shift. "The kids are older now," he started. "I mean, they grew up super fast! So, we can't play them quite as young as we did in the first one. We have to sort of lean into that."

"Zach is so good because he is that kid at heart in real life," Sandberg continues. "But he also has serious range, and I think it's nice he gets to show some of that in this one. It's not just like, 'Wow, I get to be a superhero!' He actually has to take some responsibility and save the world this time."

While the Shazam! franchise's future remains uncertain as DC Studios' James Gunn and Peter Safran prepare to reboot the DCEU as the DCU, we're definitely excited to check this movie out. If it's a massive box office hit, then Billy Batson's adventures may well continue in this new era of storytelling.

Check out Shazam! Fury of the Gods' 4K trailer in the player below.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word "SHAZAM!," is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam.

Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with having adult Super Hero alter-egos. But when the Daughters of Atlas, a vengeful trio of ancient gods, arrive on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Billy - aka Shazam - and his family are thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of their world.

The sequel's cast includes Zachary Levi as Shazam, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Adam Brody as Super Hero Freddy, Ross Butler as Super Hero Eugene, Meagan Good as Super Hero Darla, D.J. Cotrona as Super Hero Pedro, Grace Caroline Currey as Mary Bromfield/Super Hero Mary.

Djimon Hounsou returns as the Wizard, while Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu, and Helen Mirren have all joined the movie as newly created villains.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to be released on March 17, 2023.

I love and am a bigger supporter of David F. Sandberg but this trailer gives me the idea that the sequel makes the same mistake as Deadpool 2: go bigger (bigger sets, bigger vfx, bigger everything).... while the appeal of the first one was its smaller scale

@Unites - that's a good comparison I think. Hadn't really thought of that, but it does feel that way

@ObserverIO - I thought the Dragon was the best bit, maybe second to Mary Marvel.

@marvel72 - That is also true, unfortunately. The dragon was the best bit. Think I'll pass on this movie altogether actually.

Ehhhh. Nahhh. CGI OVERLOAD ☑, unbelievable threat ☑, cheesy dialog _ (benefit of doubt blank). I wish they would cameo the Rock just for 💩 & 🤭.

This looks way better than the first trailer IMO.

I wonder if people will care about the collateral damage 🤣 he punched that dragon right through a building whilst screaming 'whoo!'

If this turns out to be as good as the first hopefully Gunn allows this to have a 3rd film outside of the DCU and maybe bring in cavill for the 3rd and wrap the whole DCEU up.

One of the problems with the Geoff Johns foster family concept is having to refer to the alter egos as Super Hero Freddy and Super Hero Darla etc. Overall I wish he’d kept with the original concept, but even the Captain Planet type thing he did in Flashpoint would’ve been better than color coded hero alter egos for all the kids.

They could at least use a higher bitrate for 1080, it's pathetic. Games and media trailers suffer from this low ass bitrate, when it isn't 4k

I just realized that Aside from a believable muscle suit, Captain Marvel is missing his distinct eyebrows and squint.... pairing that with the fact that Billy does not become a wise adult with the Shazam transformation this might be the worst character translation in CBMs. My opinion only, but I hate this Captain Marvel

@ProfessorWhy - doesn’t he act like this in animated movies ?

@dragon316 -

The rapping music doesn't always make things "cooler."

I'm convinced that if they did a 'Gone With The Wind' remake today, they'd slap a hip-hop track to its trailer. 🫤

I kinda wish there were more practical fights within all the CGI. It’s like you look at the Justice League Unlimited and the fight choreography is insane yet still practical with their powers. This just seems to rely on just powers alone, but Shazam is a scrapper too.

Let Them Scrap.
