Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to make its streaming debut this May, after only arriving in theaters back in March.

Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that the DC Comics sequel will be available to stream on the newly-rebranded Max from May 23, following a very disappointing run at the box office.

The movie actually struggled to pass the $100 million mark - worldwide - pretty much guaranteeing that a third film is off the table, and that star Zachary Levi's tenure as the Big Red Cheese has come to an end.

Despite mostly positive first reactions, the reviews for Shazam! Fury of the Gods were nowhere near as glowing as they were for the original (it actually dropped to "rotten" status on Rotten Tomatoes shortly after hitting theatres), and audiences seemed to be just as indifferent to the DC Comics adventure.

What did you guys make of Fury of the Gods? Will you be giving it another (or a first) shot when it hits streaming? You can check out our review here.

Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with having adult Super Hero alter-egos. But when the Daughters of Atlas, a vengeful trio of ancient gods, arrive on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Billy—aka Shazam—and his family are thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of their world.

From New Line Cinema comes Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word “SHAZAM!,” is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods stars returning cast members Zachary Levi (Thor: Ragnarok) as Shazam; Asher Angel (Andi Mack) as Billy Batson; Jack Dylan Grazer (It Chapter Two) as Freddy Freeman; Adam Brody (Promising Young Woman) as Super Hero Freddy; Ross Butler (Raya and the Last Dragon) as Super Hero Eugene; Meagan Good (Day Shift) as Super Hero Darla; D.J. Cotrona (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) as Super Hero Pedro; Grace Caroline Currey (Annabelle: Creation) as Mary Bromfield / Super Hero Mary; Faithe Herman (This Is Us) as Darla Dudley; Ian Chen (A Dog’s Journey) as Eugene Choi; Jovan Armand (Second Chances) as Pedro Pena; Marta Milans (White Lines) as Rosa Vasquez; Cooper Andrews (The Walking Dead) as Victor Vasquez; with Djimon Hounsou (A Quiet Place Part II) as Wizard.

Joining the cast are Rachel Zegler (West Side Story), with Lucy Liu (Kung Fu Panda franchise) and Helen Mirren (F9: The Fast Saga).

Still not used to HBO Max being called Max yet. I generally don’t like products that have really short and common names. It can be confusing.

“Hey did you see the new movie on max yet?

“Max what?”

That’s unfortunate for the folks who made the movie. These types of productions aren’t easy. I was a fan of the first film. Haven’t seen this one.

@Gmoney84 -

It’s not half as bad as people say. It’s just a decent good time at the movies kind of movie. I thought it was as good as the first personally

The movie is available for purchase on digital platforms right now, and normally I would’ve already sprung for it… but I’m not paying $25 for Shazam 2. I loved the first movie, and I feel like I’m one of the few who (mostly) enjoyed the sequel, but I just can’t force myself to do it for $25. Maybe for $15 or $10 in a couple of weeks.

Well! Warner Brothers wants to keep leaning into the childish slapstick comedy. They even hired one of the pioneers of that type of CBM film making to head DC studios. The lesson to learn...if you go Joke, you go broke!!!

I actually really liked it for the most part. Thought it was pretty good. The ending... kinda weird tbh, but up until that was pretty good.

The movie was Good. Was it great, no. But it was definitely Good, and would hold up against any of the other "Comic Book Movies" from the last two years (not counting The Batman.) Definitely worth a watch.

Sad what happened to this movie. I enjoyed watching it, but at this point I guess people want these flicks to bring something fresh or original to the table.

Finally watched it last night and it was ok but definitely felt like a wait for streaming movie. Some parts of it were actually really good like the initial Dragon reveal, basically anything to do with Freddy, and the unicorn gag but the rest was just meh. The biggest issue with the movie is that (whether it’s the actor or the direction) Levi just doesn’t work as Shazam. He’s a completely different person than Billy and it jarring especially when Asher Angel is so good and so like-able. I’m down for a reboot but if they keep anything I’d rather they keep Freddy as a continued character

Hate to admit, I skipped this in theaters and I'm too bored to sit through it.

It was a fun movie, but I wish Black Adam was the villain instead of making these daughters of Atlas the antagonist. Have Black Adam awake in this new world and discover there are other champions and he hates this idea and desires to be the only one and hunts down the siblings attempting to end them or something.

Also I still think the kid who played Freddie should've been Billy. And Zack should at least showcase more wisdom as Shazam.

Is he, and MANY other sheeples, still keep blaming The Rock for this movie's failure? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
