In celebration of the upcoming theatrical release of
Shazam!, which has been
officially deemed fresh by Rotten Tomatoes, Microsoft has created a specially-themed Xbox One X console inspired by the DC superhero. And, there's a chance you can win this custom console.
The "Be a Gaming Super Hero" contest draws inspiration from the film itself, by encouraging entrants to
"let us know what super power you think your best friend would have" either on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
"This is a great way to celebrate your friendship and all the gaming challenges you’ve conquered together!" Microsoft said, referring to the friendship of Billy Batson and Freddy Freeman.
In the film, the two foster brothers discover Billy's new superpowers and explore how to use them to prevent Dr. Thaddeus Sivana from committing nefarious acts. Of course, the kids have some of their own fun with these powers along the way - as one would expect kids would do if they discovered their own super abilities.
In any case, the "Be a Gaming Super Hero" contest is now open and will run until April 9, when winners will be selected. You can read the full details for the competition
here.
In addition to a chance at winning this custom Xbox One X, Microsoft is also releasing
Shazam avatars which will remain available until July 31 on Xbox Live.
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Shazam! hits theaters on April 5, 2019.
