A little while ago, Shazam director David F. Sandberg claimed that the moment set photos of the character surfaced online, an official version would be released. However, that's a decision which is way above the pay grade of the filmmaker and Warner Bros. has yet to unveil a shot of Zachary Levi suited up as the DC Comics hero. Now, the actor has weighed in on when exactly that might be released by the studio and it sounds like he might be just as much in the dark as the rest of us.
During a recent Q&A on Instagram, Levi was asked about that set photo leaking online and admitted that it wasn't the plan for it to pop up the way it did and that he's hopeful an official version is coming.
"How did everyone like that Shazam pic that was online yesterday? Kinda crazy, right?" he asked. "That wasn’t planned, that was completely unplanned. Hopefully, we’ll be able to have a better pic at some point out there for people to see."
Could it be that Warner Bros. was responsible for that photo and leaked it themselves in order to get fans talking about the movie? We'll never know.
We'll have to hope that Warner Bros. does decide to officially unveil Shazam in the near future because the response to the costume has been mixed, mostly because it looks like plain old spandex!
