Warner Bros. Rumored To Bring AQUAMAN, SHAZAM, And More To This Year's San Diego Comic Con Panel

With Comic-Con a little over a month away, rumours are swirling about what Warner Bros. is bringing to San Diego and it sounds like we'll also be getting reveals for Wonder Woman 1984 and...The Batman?!

It's that time of year again! With this year's San Diego Comic-Con just over a month away, rumours are swirling about what we should expect from the event and while it's been confirmed that Marvel Studios is giving it a miss this time, that simply opens the door to Warner Bros. stealing the show.

Now, a new report claims to shed some light on what we should expect from the event and it definitely sounds like we'll be left with plenty to talk about when it comes to what's next for the
DCEU

So, to check out this rumoured list of reveals - which, believe it or not, includes The Batman - all you guys have to do is click on the "View List" button below. Once you've done that, be sure to head to the comments section to let us know which release you're most excited to see receive the spotlight.

The First Aquaman Trailer

Well, this is just common sense! Warner Bros. frequently uses the event to launch new trailers - after all, it's where we got our first look at Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, and Justice League! With Aquaman set to hit theaters in December, a sneak peek of some sort is long overdue so it sounds like we should prepare ourselves for that to land next month.

Wonder Woman 1894 Concept Art Reveal

The Wonder Woman sequel is expected to start shooting this month but that doesn't mean we should expect to see a huge amount from the movie at Comic-Con. Instead, it's claimed that some concept art will be shown off putting the spotlight on Kristen Wiig's Cheetah. A reveal like that will definitely get fans talking and we'll hopefully also get to see Diana Prince's updated look for the 1980s!

A Shazam! Teaser Trailer

Shazam! isn't set to be released until next April but Comic-Con is arguably the perfect place to promote it, so you can see why the studio is looking to debut a teaser at the event. While an argument could be made that Warner Bros. would be better off keeping the spotlight on Aquaman, fans are anxious for some sort of official Shazam! reveal and San Diego is the best possible venue for that.

The Batman

I find this a little hard to believe but it's said that we can also expect an appearance from The Batman director Matt Reeves and star Ben Affleck. That and an official release date reveal would go a long way in winning over fans but with the movie seemingly still stuck in development hell, we probably shouldn't get our hopes up. It wouldn't be the first time Affleck has teased the movie there...

An Official Slate

It's about damn time Warner Bros. makes its intentions clear for the DC Films Universe (DC Extended Universe?) and it's said that we'll see an official slate of movies revealed at Comic-Con. What those will be remains to be seen but it would be good for fans and the studio alike to see a list of adaptations with confirmed release dates rather than the current approach of making it up as they go.

Aquaman trailer and some sort of Shazam reveal make sense. They'll probably want to get some positive hype using Wonder Woman. The only thing that sounds iffy is Reeves and Affleck. I sort of hope it's not true, I don't really want Affleck to continue as Batman, I want a younger recast. That being said I do want news about Reeves's Batman.

Warner Bros has always made great Comic Con impressions and build up the hype year after year, yet it doesn't save the quality of their movies.

@XKnight -

that's right, dcu always "win" comic con, building mega hype for their films, I remember when the teaser for bvs came out, the whole internet when BatShitCrazy, even a lot of ppl said that 'Civil War' had no chance at the box office
and now we know know how that turned out.

we all want good movies, wonder woman was ok and by no means was bad at all but that's the only movie in the dcu that's watchable
hopefully shazam, aquaman and the batman
bring something Good, I'm not even expecting something
'new to the table'
I just want something good.

@Equivocal -

but to be completely honest....

I'm not even remotely hype for any of those movies right now
maybe when we see the trailers I might change my opinion
as of now...

nope.

@XKnight - It doesn't help that the quality of films like "Suicide Squad" and "Justice League" is drastically reduced by unnecessary reshoots. If they would stop with that garbage, they would be fine.
Kurne

I'm just glad Ray Fisher won't be there, that #BORGLife thing ain't happening.
CaptainElrond
CaptainElrond - 6/5/2018, 3:01 AM
@Kurne - Leave ray fisher alone. He was the only actor in justice league that was captivating. (maybe cavill too)
RageDriver2401
RageDriver2401 - 6/5/2018, 3:42 AM
@Kurne - amen. DCEU Cyborg is like their equivalent of Hawkeye. You like him, but not enough to go watch his movie. Also, Ray Fisher might be a decent guy, but he kisses way too much Snyder-ass.

@FunkyCipher - Cavill deserves a chance to portray the full of life, charming version of Superman, now that Snyder is gone.
CaptainElrond
CaptainElrond - 6/5/2018, 3:45 AM
@RageDriver2401 - You know its funny i support a reboot, but that would also mean letting go of cavill (i'm all in)

However he could older supes or another supes in a infinite crisis storyline.
RageDriver2401
RageDriver2401 - 6/5/2018, 3:53 AM
@FunkyCipher - same here. I think a reboot would be a good idea, the only problem is it would mean losing Cavill and Gadot.

Cavill especially looks great as Superman (the MoS version, not post-MoS).

There is no Man of Steel 2.
Superman? Fingers crossed an announcement is coming.

@FunkyCipher - IF they hard reboot the DC Films Cinematic Universe in the next year or so, and it inevitably fails, he should come back as Rebirth Superman.

Of course, rebooting the DC Films Cinematic Universe would be a terrible idea anyway. You only have two outright hated films (Trailer Park's “Suicide Squad” and Frankenstein's monster “Justice League”) and people even have things they like about THEM. Rebooting at this point would be a waste of time and money, and would cause more problems than it would solve.

To be honest, I couldn't care less. I'm cool with Aquaman but Shazam and Wonder Woman doesn't interest me. Maybe if they announce Shazam trilogy and the next movies on it will be Black Adam with The Rock and Shazam vs. Black Adam and if they set WW in the present I'll be freaking pump. The only thing that will make me interested with WW set in the past will be if it's a JSA movie with her as a member during WWII.

This company is intent on driving this IP into the ground. They are now trying to revive a dead brand. There is no other way aside from returning to the Dark Knight Trilogy and Man of Steel as a foundation for future films. Following that aesthetic is the ONLY thing that brought them success in the past and is the ONLY hing that will give them success in the future.

That ship has already sailed. WB had its chance to do that and I would have supported it
but BvS, Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad and Justice League happened. You can't just
throw Christian Bales Batman in there and say, MoS and (I suppose) Wonder Woman
happened, but ignore everything else including Wonder Woman's intro to the DCEU,
her large role in Justice League, and the same for Aquaman while saying those characters
upcoming films are still part of the canon.

It's over. Nolan doesn't want it to happen and WB will never risk a relationship that is still
working for them with Dunkirk, and could someday pay off in other projects like an
Inception 2.

Bale would never do it if Nolan isn't behind the project.
Forthas
Forthas - 6/5/2018, 3:41 AM
@FunkyCipher - Oh right just look at ALL of that success that they have had thus far.

Demba
Demba - 6/5/2018, 3:42 AM
@Forthas - I don’t think it’s the only way they can achieve success again. They have good characters to build a universe around, what they need are good films, with good scripts, good directors, who will take the heart and essence of these characters and their respective worlds and bring them to the screen. Setting a universal tone for all movies won’t work if they constantly change it on the reaction the GA has to other films ( ie justice league and avengers/mcu films)neither will releasing a film reactively (Suicide Squad). They need a plan, and to set goals. Wonder Woman is a perfect example. Hopefully Shazam and Aquaman will be too.
CaptainElrond
CaptainElrond - 6/5/2018, 3:44 AM
@Forthas - I agree it needs a reboot, just don't reboot the dark knight saga.

PINOYFAN
PINOYFAN - 6/5/2018, 3:44 AM
@Forthas - As much as l likethat idea (imagine TDK MoS and WW) , TDKR happened and the movies that happened after MOS also did plus Bale isn't into it.

Wait!

"WB had its chance to do that and I would have supported it"

So if it was a good idea then, why is it not a good idea now?

You CAN just throw the Christian Bale Batman in there. That is EXACTLY what is being done with the Terminator films. They are ignoring EVERY single film after Terminator 3 and I don't see fans organizing against the idea. Linda Hamilton will reprise the role despite the fact two other actresses have already portrayed her.

I don't think Wonder Woman should be a part of that reboot.

"Nolan doesn't want it to happen"
Not true, Nolan advocated for a spinoff film of his iteration of Catwoman which WB ignored. Show me a quote in which he states he is opposed to it.

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2012/jul/12/anne-hathaway-dark-knight-rises

"Bale would never do it if Nolan isn't behind the project."
This is not true. bale is interested in a good film, that was his only requirement. We don't know what he would have done since WB never approached him about it.

https://screenrant.com/batman-christian-bale-superman-justice-league/

Show me a quote from Bale where he states he would never do it unless Nolan was behind it.
Forthas
Forthas - 6/5/2018, 3:57 AM
@Demba - OK it is not the ONLY way...but it is the fastest and proven way to do it. I agree with everything you wrote. However the problem was the overreaction to the general audience...WHICH IS WHERE EVERYTHING WENT SOUTH! What I am suggesting is gong back to that point and get back on the right track. The obvious next film after Man of Steel should have been Man of Steel 2, not a unsubtle Batman film. In addition following the Nolan aesthetic makes it distinct from other super hero films...and in my opinion films that followed that aesthetic are batting four for four.
