SPAWN Reboot Is Reportedly Eyeing THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Actor Jamie Foxx For The Title Role

News surrounding Blumhouse's Spawn reboot has been picking up steam of late, and now we have word that Todd McFarlane has offered Jamie Foxx (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Django Unchained) the lead role...

If Jamie Foxx potentially playing Spawn sounds familiar, it's because the Academy Award-winning actor was "aggressively pursuing" the role for an earlier incarnation of the reboot back in 2013. Things didn't work out then, but it looks like Foxx may get another chance to portray the demonic antihero.

According to That Hashtag Show, the Django Unchained star has been offered the part of Al Simmons - however, should he accept, he'll be sharing the spotlight with another actor!

Todd McFarlane has previously suggested that his hellish creation wouldn't actually be the main focus of the film, and now we know why. The story will actually follow Detective Twitch Williams, who will team with Spawn to track down and bring violent justice to the men responsible for the kidnapping and murder of his daughter.

Last we heard, McFarlane was hoping for a 2019 release, so chances are we'll find out whether Foxx has signed on to play Spawn sooner rather than later.

I like Mcfarlane so I hope this goes well, but tbh I don't think it will

@AndrewHolland - mcfarlane in the directors chair is definitely concerning, but isn't blumhouse the studio that's killing it with the horror movies lately? Maybe they have a feige style EP who shows up to set every day.

Potential redemption for the character and for an actor who was in a shitty cbm.

This has been talked about for nearly twenty years. Just do it Tom! I'd love to see Jamie play Al, but I'd rather see ninety percent Spawn and ten percent Twitch. My two cents...

Damn... ASM2 was so awful. I liked it in theatres but after thinking about it... it just got worse and worse.

I'm actually mad at some of Mcfarlane's comments about his Spawn movie. The focus will be on the police and Sam and Twitch? Wtf?

The hbo animated series was perfect in my opinion. Just go from there dammit.

Terrell’s Own is a great actor so I’m not mad at the choice but everything else said about this movie sounds absolutely horrible. Wish I could remotely be excited for the Spawn movie I want so much but this ain’t it.
