Canceled SPIDER-MAN: LOTUS Fan Film Footage Shows Web-Slinging VFX That Are On Par With The MCU

Newly revealed footage from the scrapped Spider-Man: Lotus fan film has surfaced online, and it showcases some impressive visual effects with web-slinging some of you might argue is better than the MCU!

Most fan films try hard, but ultimately can't come close to matching what we see in Hollywood blockbusters. However, with it becoming easier than ever for aspiring filmmakers to pick up a camera and bring their vision to life, Spider-Man: Lotus looked like it could be something very special indeed.

Unfortunately, we soon found out that both director Gavin J. Konop and Peter Parker actor Warden Wayne had allegedly shared some vile racist opinions that did the rounds online in the form of leaked DMs. There were also accusations that Konop had treated storyboard and VFX artists badly, while he later seemed to show his true colours in a message about Jon Watts.

The Spider-Man: No Way Home helmer made a point of reaching out to Konop to congratulate him on how the fan film was coming together, and after feigning excitement publicly, a DM revealed that he thinks Watts' Marvel movies are "still f***ing GARB."

There are claims that Spider-Man: Lotus will still be released, but fans don't seem overly interested in seeing anything from these two at this point.

Despite that, there's no denying that this new VFX video shared by artist Max Aurnhammer is pretty damn spectacular. Bringing the web-slinger to life in a way that's every bit as impressive as the Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios movies, Spidey looks amazing as he swings through New York City in a way we haven't even seen in the MCU yet!

Considering the reported budget of this fan film was only $25,000, that's mighty impressive and a solid indication this might have been a fun watch.

Hopefully, this gets Aurnhammer noticed as it would be a shame for those who didn't do anything wrong to not have their work recognised in any way. Fingers crossed more footage like this is shared soon as we'd be curious to see what other impressive VFX Spider-Man: Lotus had in store for us.
