Sony Pictures' Madame Web has added another cast member, with Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation, Step Brothers) signing on for a supporting role. As per usual, details on his character are being kept under wraps.
Scott is coming off an Emmy Award nomination for his critically-acclaimed performance in the superb Severance.
The SPUMC ("Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters") movie has assembled a very impressive cast, and there's a rumor doing the rounds that the project was actually developed as a team-up film with Dakota Johnson's clairvoyant lead sharing the spotlight with a number of other female heroes. That remains to be seen, but Deadline also seems to think that it's s strong possibility.
One thing all of the trades seem to agree on is that Sony is hoping to utilize the title character as their version of Doctor Strange.
Production on the mysterious Madame Web is now underway, with some recent set photos seemingly hinting that the movie will be set in the early noughties.
The movie also stars Emma Roberts, Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced and Celeste O'Connor. S.J. Clarkson (The Defenders) is directing from a screenplay by Morbius scribes Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.
Madame Web was recently given an official release date, and is set to hit theaters on July 7, 2023.
