We recently got a first glimpse of Madame Web star Dakota Johnson on the set of the Sony Pictures movie (is she playing Julia Carpenter?), and these latest shots give us a look at Adam Scott, who we learned had joined the cast in an undisclosed role just last week.

What do these photos tell us about his character? Well, not a whole lot! The bearded Severance star was spotted preparing to shoot a scene in jeans and a blue plaid shirt, looking pretty much like he did on Parks and Recreation when Ben was between jobs.

We may get a better idea of who he's playing once we see who he's filming with, but as it stands, Sony has done a pretty good job of keeping the identities of the main characters under wraps. There is a rumor doing the rounds that Sydney Sweeney could be playing Black Cat, but aside from the Euphoria actress confirming that she is in the midst of fight training to prepare for her role, we don't have much to go on.

Check out the set new photos at the link below.

Madame Web has assembled a very impressive cast, and there's have been reports that it was actually developed as a team-up film with Johnson's clairvoyant lead sharing the spotlight with a number of other female heroes. That remains to be seen, but the trades certainly seem to think there's more to the project than meets the eye.

The movie also stars Emma Roberts, Isabela Merced and Celeste O'Connor. S.J. Clarkson (The Defenders) is directing from a screenplay by Morbius scribes Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.

Madame Web was recently given an official release date, and is set to hit theaters on July 7, 2023.

I’m sure it’s the usual he’s an ex or current boyfriend whose relationship is already strained and only gets further complicated by Julia and/or Cassandra becoming Madame Web

@GhostDog - genuinely can’t tell which one i liked more, kind of switches between the two depending on the day haha. also, holy shit would jeremy allen white be perfect for mr miracle if they ever adapted the tom king run
(also loved [redacted]’s cameo as michael, that dude’s the king of surprise appearances at this point)
edit: i should clarify that i meant “at worst it’s on par with the bear” not that i think the bear is the worst oe anything lmao

@tmp3 - lol gotcha. Thanks for the clarification.

The cameo genuinely surprised me.

The one shot episode was PURE TENSION. The whole show was but that near hour of tv was so well done. I think Jeremy Allen White deserves a lot of attention

@tmp3 - We're in a stellar era for television right now. New season of WWDITS just started. Only Murders, too. And now House of the Dragon and new season of Reservation Dogs next week.

Even though he probably ends up being in this for just a couple of scenes as no significant character, I kinda want him as Miles Warren.

Madame Web needs an origin story about as much as we need this movie.

But as far as Scott goes...idk, Alistair/Spencer Smythe? Makes about as much sense as anything else, and he obviously will be a character recognizable by name. Maybe Smythe and Cassandra get wheelchaired in the same way, and after seeing Cassandra gain precognitive abilities and whatnot, Smythe becomes obsessed with her and ultimately wants to "slay" her. Then he gets spider slayer abilities or something.

This thing needs a villain, right?

He's either going to be the Matt Smith or Michelle Williams of this movie.

is sony just messing these characters so marvel won't touch them . They really are clinging onto this spiderman franchise. these characters are better served in a spider-man movie they really don't need their own movies and definitely not madame web.

There are far too many spider-people in the Marvel universe in the comics, and soon the movies will be too! I'm really starting to dislike Marvel more and more these days (yeah, I know it's Sony, but Marvel does play a part).

Peter Parker isn't special anymore...
