A possible future for Marvel/Sony's new Spider-Man

A possible future for Marvel/Sony's new Spider-Man

The Spider-Man I hope to see!

So with Marvel and Sony teaming up to bring our favorite wall-crawler into the MCU, many people have been throwing out their ideas for what they think Marvel/Sony will do with this new Spider-Man. Will he be Peter Parker? Black or White? Gay or straight? The debates are never ending, but I'd like to take a moment to put in my two cents on what I believe Marvel/Sony should do with the character (my all time favorite).

First off, let's establish who Spider-Man should be. Since Spidey is pretty much Marvel's most well known and beloved hero of all time, I think it's safe to say that since Marvel has just gotten their hands on him again, they need to stick with Peter Parker in his original state. A white, nerdy kid from Queens. Marvel can finally do their character justice after two failed launches. Now let's get on to the film ideas!

Civil War Intro

Television is playing in the background at a bar Cap is reminiscing in. On the screen is Spidey in action at multiple clips of swinging, robberies, etc. The tag line reads "Will Spider-Man be signing on for the registration act?" We later see Tony Stark asking Spider-Man to join with the registration act. Offering him a new suit, the Iron Spider as a "sign on bonus". Spidey says he needs to think on it. Tony tells him to take the suit out, give it a spin. See how it feels to be a part of his team. While trying it out Spidey encounters a riot in the streets between RA supporters and Cap's resistance. He tries to settle them down and ends up facing Cap. They fight it out and in the end Spidey realizes Cap is right after watching a fellow hero fall.He returns Tony's suit and tells him he's out.
We finally meet the new Spidey! We enter into Peter's high school life. A brief narration begins. Something along the lines of, "I'm Peter Parker. I'm just your average everyday normal teenager....most of the time. You see when I'm not study for finals or doing chores at home, I'm Spider-Man." The film starts with Spiderman foiling a robbery organized by Kingpin. Kingpin decides he needs to beef up his team for the future and sends in Shocker. Spidey foils his plans again midway through. Fisk then decides to defeat the wall-crawler he needs a superhuman all his own with the powers of a predator that preys on spiders, the Scorpion. An epic battle ensues! Throughout the movie we see the start of a romance between Peter and Mary Jane (Ultimate Comics based) but it's not a main focal point. End Credits scene show Kingpin Hiring Kraven the Hunter to take care of his Spider problem.

Spider-Man is shown in several clips on the news in intro of movie showing his more aggressive behavior. Tony is watching the tv and looking concerned. We come back to Peter who is enjoying his new suit to the fullest. A serial killer, Cletus Kassidy, has started up in New York. Spiderman sets out to hunt him down. Looking for publicity Eddie Brock writes a report that Spiderman is working with the crooks he brings down. Spidey pays him a little visit to discredit him, resulting in Brock's termination. Back to Cletus, Kassidy slaughters several people before Spiderman catches up to him. In the distance we catch glimpses of Kraven tracking and studying his pray. Spiderman angered by the brutality of Kassidy and seeing the bodies of a family he was too late to save beats Kassidy within an inch of his life. (This causes Kassidy to hate Spiderman and swear revenge) Spidey pulls back in shock of his own actions. He contacts Stark and Stark gives his theory and offers to help. They separate from an invention from Tony and the suit flees looking for another host. As Spidey goes back on patrol in his classic Red and Blues, he's attacked by Kraven who doses him with sedative to nullify his spider sense. Kraven "kills" Spiderman and buries him thinking himself victorious he returns to kingpin. Spiderman crashes the meeting showing he's alive and defeats Kraven. Kingpin escapes.
Now I know I haven't elaborated but it was implied that throughout these movies the high school life is being shown and relationships are being made throughout previous films between Peter, Harry, Mary Jane, Flash, and so on. That being said this film will focus on The Green Goblin. Norman Osborn is growing tired of the constant robberies and demands from Kingpin. In retaliation he becomes the Green Goblin and wages war with Kingpin. Spiderman must stop the two before they burn the city to the ground. A side story introduced through the news is that a mysterious "Black Spiderman" is stopping thugs as well, but with the Goblin taking priority Spiderman decided to settle this later. After Spiderman subdues the Goblin and it seems like it's all over. Spiderman is attacked without any warning from his senses. Venoms voice starts speaking taunting and accusing Spiderman while striking him repetitively. He finally reveals himself claiming to be his better and Spiderman Vs Venom begins. In the end, Spiderman realizes he can't beat his opponent in a fight and instead uses his head to defeat his enemy. He "admits" he is nothing without he Symbiote and begs it to come back knowing that he's the host the Symbiote truly desires. The suit leaves Brock and tries to bond to Spidey but realizes too late it's been tricked Spidey knocks Brock out with impact webbing and traps the Symbiote before it can escape.

Great ideas! I advise you to delete the extra copy of your article, but nevertheless solid ideas. I was hoping I wasn't the only one thinking about the symbiote coming from Infinity War instead of Secret War.

Can't wait to see Spidey in the MCU. They have the chance to do something beyond awesome with this character.

Most of this is almost exactly how I pictured it happening except a few things.

I like your idea better of him getting the symbiote in Infinity War part 1. I had the idea to use the Ult. version and have it created in Osborn's lab and then in Sinister Six have Spidey be kinda the bad guy and Norman hire the six to "collect" his suit and destroy Parker.

I had the 3 Parker movies as: The Spectacular Spider-Man, The Sensational Spider-Man, and Web of Spider-Man. Then do a Spider-Verse.

We know they are set on doing a female spidey movie. So I think all the spider characters should come together at the end before Miles takes over completely.

@Spidey2244 I'd like to see him still alive later in the Miles Series and they do like a Shattered Dimensions story

@JredTheRed I'm hoping it's years later and they do Mayday Parker, Spider-Girl. Though, I'd be ok with Jessica Jones as well.

I like the ideas...but I'm confused...your saying Spiderman won't appear in any Marvel film after infinity gauntlet part 2?...I doubt that...I would assume they are bringing him back to high school so that when he gets older they can bring him on as a young adult Avenger in a movie or two not to just scrap him after IGP2

@Rhino4508 I get that...its just that you speculated like 4-5 Spiderman films after...but won't speculate Marvel's films?
Rhino4508
Rhino4508 - 2/22/2015, 9:39 AM
@Arrowverse considering I don't know Marvel's future films beyond what they've established, and this being an article on Spidey's role in the known upcoming movies and his own solo films, I really didn't feel it necessary to speculate any further than the Spiderman films. Now if Marvel reveals more films, I'd gladly speculate further. Just because Spiderman is now in the world doesn't mean he'll keep popping into Marvel movies. I've speculated on the known crossovers and plot lines. Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Hulk, Widow, and Hawkeye have all met in Avengers but haven't made appearances in each other's solo films. Why would I assume Spider-Man would?
JDUKE25
JDUKE25 - 2/22/2015, 9:42 AM
@Arrowverse I'm sure he'll pop up in other Marvel movies, but we don't know what other films will happen after Infinity War. This article is about what we wanted to see from the new Spidey films, and the two, well three, Marvel movies we know for sure he'll be in.

@GliderMan Did you ever watch the 90's television series? Kingpin was THE crime boss. Because of his wealth he was able to fund several villains. He had his legitimate business and then his criminal empire. Even though he ran the show a lot of the times, it still gave for original villain origins and not just the every villain comes from OsCorp origin we were getting from TASM. The reason for the Kingpin being the focus was due to the idea that Spider-Man's villains would likely not join forces voluntarily unless there was a major power house or someone smart enough to organize the group. While Goblin does meet both of these criteria I believe Kingpin would be a better fit. As it could also unite the DareDevil TV series to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I should probably add this to the main body of the article.

Mysterio is an amazing villain, but I don't know if you could get an entire film out of him. He'd be an easy swap out for Shocker.

Also, I don't think I ever stated that Kingpin would be in the fight. Just that he'd be funding and running the crimes. Spider-Man may know about him but he'd never be able to prove anything on Fisk. Once again, this idea is greatly inspired by the 90's animated series.

@GliderMan Defend it or go home lol.

Mysterio is one of my favorite villains but once Spider-Man realizes he's in an illusion his Spider sense would easily thwart it. Happened in the books and shows. Now if they made him a Meta human that made you see what he wanted that would make for a longer film. But the illusions thing would make for a B-list villain. Sadly he's become a B-list villain in the comics as well. His crimes are fantastic but he just can't go toe to toe with Spidey for a long fight IMO.

@Rhino4508 @GliderMan

Yeah I agree with Rhino. Mysterio is a cool villain and the special effects aspect of him would be interesting to see onscreen, but I don't think his motives are good enough to be the main villain in one of the movies. They would have to drastically change his origins to make him interesting, and that doesn't always turn out good (Electro in ASM2). They completely changed the character of Max Dillon, and although the special effects of Electro looked cool, he ultimately failed as a villain in my opinion.
Rhino4508
Rhino4508 - 2/22/2015, 7:12 PM
@GliderMan The difference between Scarecrow and Mysterio is that Scarecrow's Toxin actually messes with the biochemistry of your brain to put you not only in a hallucinogenic state put also a state of intense terror further trapping you in the illusion. Mysterio on the other hand is completely holograms and sounds to trick you into seeing something that isn't there. Like imagining your in a state park when you're actually in on coming traffic. While extremely dangerous to those without Spider-Man's SpiderSense, Spider-Man would literally Sense out his surroundings locating Beck and taking him out or finding the source of the illusion. I think he'd be a great accompanying villain. Which is why I said he'd make a good exchange for Shocker. Shocker is a thug yes, but he's also a powerhouse. Mysterio is the heist guy and Shocker is the muscle. Doc Ock has led the Six before and a lot of times it ends up with all of them getting lost in the back biting or power struggle and losing. With a ring leader like Kingpin, they'd be more focused. As a matter of fact it's shown very well in the 90s TV show lol. Spider-Man notices how organized they are the second time around.

@GliderMan Dude it's every portrayal lol I've yet to see a modified Mysterio. Would love to but it hasn't happened yet to my knowledge. And Kingpin's a ringleader in Marvel. It's what he's known for... You know besides being so muscular he appears fat.

@GliderMan @Rhino4508

The Whiplash thing was a good point, and like I said in another article I have faith that Marvel can do a successful adaption of Mysterio in a Spider-Man film after I've seen them make good use of lesser known villains like Iron Monger and Aldrich Killian.

They would definitely have to change up his origins a little, and maybe give him some different powers like you both said above. My only concern is that they don't do another Electro. Electro looked great visually, but the character of Max Dillon wasn't really on point. Marvel needs to do both spectacular visual effects with Mysterio and make a developed character of Quentin Beck with good motives to make him worthy of being the main villain in a Spider-Man movie.
Rhino4508
Rhino4508 - 2/23/2015, 5:16 PM
@GliderMan and @acorsi11

I wasn't a big fan of Whiplash. He looked awesome, had decent motives but then they made him basically Iron Monger with whips and his main plan is to suicide bomb stark. They could have done so much more but anyways.

I'll say this on Mysterio. I would absolutely love it if he could become apart of the MCU. I'm merely saying I think it'd be hard to put him as is up on screen. They'd have to tweak him a bit and in doing so it could be a poor portrayal. Now, they could use him to show Peter developing a better use of his Spider-Sense as almost like a sonar deal. Then in Sinister Six he come back with a jammer helmet like he had later in comics. That could work.
