Brian Michael Bendis denies the Ultimate Spider-Man Movie comment reported by Latino Review last week.

This comment was originally posted on a fanboard at SuperHeroHype.com and gained notoriety when Latino Review wrote an article about it:

"I talked to Bendis today.

Yeah, I met him at Emerald City ComiCon in Seattle, it was awesome. Got a picture, and a signature. Awesome guy, I ate some of his cookies. Was thirty minutes late though.. I asked him really quickly about the reboot, I told him to "give a lot of good ideas to the movie, just please make sure its really good". (Sorry to all the Ultimate-SM haters).

He told me, "From what I've heard it's going to be exactly like this (pointing to my Volume 1 of Ultimate Spider-Man". ("Verbatim")

.. So. Yay!"


After this was mentioned on Latino Review many other sites, including ComicBookMovie.com, aggregated it. Surprisingly, Bendis himself took the time to clear up any misconceptions:





Latino Review has since caught up with the SHH forum poster. This is what he had to say about his the comment, "I didn't want it to get out and start a huge conflict. This was not my intention. I'm just a dedicated fan of Bendis and Spider-Man. The last thing I would want is for one of my heroes to think I'm an inconsiderate asshole."

Latino Review actually went so far as to get pictures sent of Bendis at the con, talking to the guy who wrote the Ultimate thing. Personally i think Bendis is full of shit on this occasion.

The kid is a cocksock. However, I don't see the huge deal just coming out and stating the obvious. Bendis may be back peddling but then again Latino Review has a high bullshit factor. Gauging from the reports posted before from Sony people and Webb it is pretty [frick]in' clear they are doing Ultimate Spidey.

you see the point is, all the difference variations of Spider-man, including the cartoons and the Ultimate line, get their inspiration form the original Spider-man. And that is what the new film version should base that on, and then from there create it's own universe. That's what Raimi did, and it was that and Raimi's love of Spider-man that birthed two fantastic films (and one iffy one).

You don't make a photocopy of a copy, you use the original.

Thank God! I'm not a fan of the way Bendis used to write (he's got a lot better recently though) but Ulitmate Spider-Man was a decent enough title for the first 60 odd issues. Despite that, there is NO WAY I want to see the movie being solely based on it! Take some inspirations sure but it should be mainly based on the regular 616 universe!

So he lied or what? Why are people making shit up so they can look like [frick]ing retards a couple days later when the people who are actually working on the damn projects deny them? Do they not think this shit through before they attempt the rumor lol? I think people who make up shit and then post it (especially admins or moderators) should be banned from that site, or at least some type of suspension so they don't do it again. Being false on accident is one thing (and to correct yourself), but to literally just lie through your teeth (keyboard I guess in this situation lol), is just unacceptable to me, and hopefully for everyone else with some type of standards.
