Emma Stone Strongly Considered For Leading Lady In Sony's Spider-Man Reboot

Variety reports that Easy A actress Emma Stone, has been added to the list of candidates for Spidey's main squeeze in the upcoming reboot. Check it Out!

With the actress' most recent film Easy A, bringing in more than $18 million on the opening weekend at the box office, Emma Stone is circling various roles for upcoming Sony reboots. Variety reports that in addition to circling a role opposite Jonah Hill, in the 21 Jump Street reboot...

"Stone has also been added to a list including Lily Collins, Teresa Palmer and Mia Wasikowska the studio is considering for the female lead in the untitled "Spider-Man" reboot"

And while the other three actresses are also still in the running for the role, Variety's insiders say Stone may have an advantage given her relationship with the studio. When the first set of candidates were revealed, it was said that the Peter Parker's love interest wouldn't be Mary Jane Watson, like in Sam Raimi's trilogy. And it's strongly believed to be Gwen Stacy.

If her close relationship with studio lands her the role, Stone would star opposite lead Andrew Garfield. And with big news coming soon, claims director Marc Webb, Spidey's 3D return to theaters begins world-wide July 3, 2012.

Nice find DCMF! :) I loved Stone in Zombieland, but Teresa Palmer is still my #1 choice for Gwen. Either way, I would not be at all upset if those two or Emma Roberts nabbed it as they're all great actresses IMO! I'd be cool with...

soda9: Thanks! :) I'd actually rather them not include MJ at all in this movie because it would be nice to have the focus entirely on Gwen instead...after 3 movies of that character and her now reduced role in Amazing, I'm not sure why they want to keep her around! I just hope they're not going to make MJ his girlfriend and Gwen that hard nosed, knife wielding bitch from the Ultimate Spider-Man comics because that is definitely not Gwen Stacy IMO!

The casting is a combination of Gwen and MJ candidates so I'm sure they're most likely talking to Emma Stone for the role of MJ.

This is definatley weird news. Just hearing about Emma being looked at as a choice, and Mia Wasikowska (for those who don't know, she was in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and on season 1 of HBO's In Treatment) just comes as a shock. Emma fits the description for MJ but this definately brings more questions over who the love interest is really going to be. It is greatly assumed by most of us that is, and I believe so too, that it is going to be Gwen since she was Peter's love interest before Mary Jane. But they didn't confirm that it would be Gwen. Spider-Man has a lot of love interests so it could be someone else: Felicia Hardy, Betty Brant, could be anyone else. Though I'm still hoping it be Gwen and still believe that Teresa is the better suit for the role.

Gwen and MJ are BOTH going to be in the movie ala Spectacular Spider-Man. yes Parker has dated many females but he's only really LOVED Gwen and MJ.

Keep in mind that Spectacular Spider-Man was a Sony Pictures cartoon, which is what makes it even more reason for them to draw influence from it for this reboot.

Second The film will already be finished by next august so that shouldn't matter plus Tobey was around the same age when he was cast in SM1
