First Pictures Of Spider-Man From Turn Off The Dark Revealed!

Some more photos from the upcoming musical have been revealed and they feature our first decent look at Peter Parker, Mary Jane, Swiss Miss and Spider-Man taking on the Green Goblin...

"I feel more invincible onstage than anywhere else," says Reeve Carney, who performs the title role (dancer and gymnast Emmanuel Brown, pictured here, is a stunt double).

Mary Jane (Jennifer Damiano) falls into the clutches of the Green Goblin (Patrick Page). Will Spider-Man save the day?

Mary Jane fends off the multibladed Swiss Miss (Sean Samuels). "There are a lot of comic-book nerds out there who are in love with Mary Jane," says Damiano. "I don’t want to let them down."

Carney and Damiano as the star-crossed Peter and Mary Jane.

Actually, Deadpool the Musical could at least be intentionally hilarious. I don't know how you can salvage this.

You haters are the joke, and what's funny is you don't even know it.

I predict this has a long long play on BW.

My God, this looks truly awful. A Spider-Man musical could have been great (as I'm sure "Batman Live" will be) but they've really [frick]ed it up judging by these images.

"There are a lot of comic-book nerds out there who are in love with Mary Jane," says Damiano. "I don’t want to let them down."

Too late sweetheart. You and the rest of the cast and crew have clearly already done that. I'm afraid that this is nothing more than Spider-Man in name...who the hell even approved this? Marvel or Sony!? Either way, it's an epic fail. :(

I guess I'm the only person on the internet who still thinks this looks good. Of course it doesn't look like the normal versions, it's a [frick]ing BROADWAY MUSICAL, and it definitely reflects Taymor's sensibilities (I could do without Across the Universe, but Titus and Frida are both great movies, and she's won Tony awards for her Broadway work in the past).

Am I the only one that thinks this looks pretty fricking cool!? The backdrops look wicked!! I LOVE that abstract NYC skyline!!

NOBODY should expect this to be even close to the comics. If you're complaining about this not being a faithful adaptaion, then you're a damn fool. Try to view this musical as an alternate universe that's radically different from anything we've seen before. Very much like what Marvel 1602 did. Be happy that it's not trying to be like anything from the comics. That way fans and non-fans alike won't have any trouble telling the difference between the musical and the comic books. I think having THIS green Goblin on stage and singing is better than having the green and purple Goblin from 616 comics. 616 Goblin wasn't made for a musical, whereas this GG is.

@ jbak368

You and I were thinking the EXACT same thing!! =P

I'm really not sure what anyone was expecting from a stage musical based on Spider-Man. These pics look very much how I thought they would. Like a stage musical based on Spider-Man!

If you can't understand, you probably would never be going to a Broadway musical anyway. I still think this makes history, rather then bombing.
We'll see.
Btw, no more retarded looking then Cat's was.

I'm still trying to figure out who this is meant for- the Broadway elitists who will stay away because it's based on (gasp!) a comic book, the comic die-hards who will stay away because it looks like a foofy musical, or the casual fan who can't be bothered to pay $100-$500 to see Spidey dance around with something called Swiss Miss who appears to be the bastard child of Shredder and a winged monkey, and a Goblin who looks like a cross between Kermit the Frog and a Christmas tree...unless someone is actually trying The Producers' plan for real- then it makes perfect sense.

@ JohnnyKrypton

Right. Because there's no such thing as a successful Broadway musical. LOL

And to add insult to injury, ever heard of Repo! The Genetic Opera or Sweeney Todd? Both are not your average musical. Both are hugely succesful.

@ SpideyQuad

I agree. This will probably be a huge hit. But good luck convincing that to a buncha nerds on the internet on a comic book forum!

what a horrible idea. how do things like this get this far into development? wow, the economy is so bad, the cast and crew aren't going to complain (a gig's a gig, hos gotta eat), the producer is so detached from reality, he's only glad he got something on broadway. unfortunately, the only point left to flush this turd is on opening night by the audience.

why are Spiderman and MJ having an orgy with the love child of Beetlejuice and Godzilla?
AND WHY is MJ pushing her boobs towards Megatron?

All I can say is I hope the last image is right before the end, where Deadpool kills them both, dumps the body of Barrackapool with them and quotes Porky Pig by looking at the audience and stuttering "Th-Th-Th-That's all folks!" as the curtains close

People, people, I would love to be surprised by this thing and get a great new expression of Spider man in a new medium...but look at it!

@Ror -You though they'd make the goblin look like THAT? You thought they'd come up with some new villain that looked like THAT? Man, maybe you see alot more stage musicals than I do, but this is not what I was expecting.
