With Spider-Man: Homecoming less than two weeks out, Sony Pictures has issued the official cast list, revealing the addition of Jennifer Connelly (Hulk) to the cast. Connelly returns to the world of superheroes as a character named "Karen/Suit Lady," who will apparently be the voice of the A.I. in Peter Parker's fancy new Stark Industries suit, likely ruling out a live-action appearance for the Academy Award-winner.
The cast list also confirms the true identities of several cast members and reveals two more potential Marvel villains in Aaron Davis, a.k.a. the Prowler, played by Donald Glover (Atlanta), and Mac Gargan a.k.a. the Scorpion, played by Michael Mando (Orphan Black). We also have confirmation that there will indeed be two Shockers: the Herman Schultz version, played by Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo), and the Jackson Brice iteration, played by Logan Marshall-Green (Devil).
Angourie Rice is playing Betty Brant and Garcelle Beauvais (Flight) is listed as Doris Toomes, likely suggesting she's the Vulture's wife (or ex-wife) and quite possibly, also confirming the identity of another key cast member.
Gwyneth Paltrow is reprising her role as Pepper Potts for the first time since 2013's Iron Man 3 and considering she receives sixth billing on the cast list, there may be more to her role than initially meets the eye. Meanwhile, the legendary Stan Lee will cameo as a character named Gary, and Chris Evans will cameo as Captain America, although it's uncertain whether we'll see him outside of the disciplinary videos playing at Peter Parker's school.
So, what do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
