The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field; the film swings into theatres July 3rd.

3D is stupid. And only ONE hero was meant to be seen in just IMAX. And it's not Spider-Man.

This is the only movie this summer I wanted to see in IMAX 3D but the nearest IMAX theater closed down.-_- I would have to either go to Charleston or Wilmington, NC for an IMAX and I'm not going that far.

I am so looking forward to this. No matter what ANYONE will ever say you can't get past the fact that Amazing Spider-Man is going to be the Best Superhero Movie since Avengers. And if I am shelling out $15 a ticket for an IMAX movie it better be the way IMAX movies were before feature films started showing in IMAX. Meaning I want the full screen size & 3D. I refuse to pay $15 to watch a movie on a bigger screen... I can just sit closer to the front on a regular size screen.

Ok for the record its not gonna be in IMAX. At least not the actual correct IMAX screen. Will it be in 3D yes. I know this because all the real IMAX theaters that have the correct screen wont be showing Spider-man on it. They said the same thing for the Avengers and how it would be in IMAX 3D........... it wasn't in IMAX 3D :( which sucks I know because I wanted to actually see it on the IMAX screen. But its not.......

I've bought flight tickets to another [frick]ing state so I could see The Amazing Spider-Man in glorious IMAX 3D. So yeah, I completely agree with the TV spot, only one superhero was meant to see in glorious IMAX 3D.

By the way, yet another glowing review for this bad boy, this time from Kotaku:

iJackSparrow
iJackSparrow - 6/25/2012, 11:56 AM
And as usual, I endorse Owlman's statement.

@WolvieCBM and @LucasMend: I haven't watched ANYTHING but the two trailers and the "Truth" TV spot. Just like I did with The Avengers, I'm skipping the tv spots and clips altogether. Only hardcore geeks go after every single TV spot out there, this is designed to attract the general audience, not us.

Yeah, probably not seeing it in 3D. I don't think it's necessary and don't feel like spending the extra cash for it. Also, the nearest IMAX theater is at least 2 hours away, so won't be seeing in IMAX. That being said, really excited for the movie!

@tea: lol. Maybe there is something to it...

IMO, this is what they SHOULD do in the sequels:

1. In the 2nd movie, have Spider-Man fight Electro and the Green Goblin. Towards the end of the film, Capt Stacey gets killed by falling debris during Spidey's fight with Electro and Gwen blames Spider-Man. I know Capt Stacey was killed by Dr Octopus in the comics, but we already had him done right in a film.

2. At the end of 2, Spider-Man defeats the Green Goblin, but Norman Osborn suffers his amnesia and can't remember anything.

3. In the 3rd movie, Spider-Man should fight the Vulture. I had in mind the vulture being Adrian Toomes as a middle aged man dying from cancer (also an Oscorp board member) who wants to take everyone down with him and he steals Osborns original designs and uses them for himself and makes the wing suit. I also had Mark Strong in mind to play the Vulture.

4. Also, toward the middle of the third film, Osborn recovers and becomes the Goblin again. He remembers his hatred for Spider-Man and kidnaps Gwen. Spider-Man and Goblin have their epic battle on the bridge and Gwen is killed.

5. At the end of 3, Spider-Man defeats the Goblin and Norman is stabbed with his own glider. As Osborn is dying, the building is attacked by the Vulture. The very last fight is a sky battle between Spider-Man and the Vulture.

IMO, this would be a cool way to make a solid trilogy.

Just to clarify, I watched Avengers at the only full size IMAX Screen in Michigan and watched it with the IMAX 3D glasses. That is exactly how I will be watching Amazing Spider-man. Only difference is the movie wasn't shot with an IMAX 40mm camera. Instead it was shot digitally and then converted to IMAX format and put on 40mm film. Dark Knight & Dark Knight Rises had portions of the movie shot with an IMAX 40mm camera but not the entire movie. The parts not shot with the IMAX camera were shot digitally and converted for 40mm Film just like Averngers and Amazing Spider-man. Only Hollywood movie I can think of that was shot 100% with an IMAX 40mm camera was Avitar.
