Sony's Animated SPIDER-MAN Movie Adds LUKE CAGE Actor Mahershala Ali And ATLANTA Star Brian Tyree Henry
Phil Lord and Chris Miller may be off Han Solo, but their animated Spider-Man flick is still very much on at Sony, and the project has just added two very exciting new actors to its voice cast...
On the heels of the shocking news that Phil Lord and Chris Miller have been fired from the young Han Solo spinoff after clashing with Kathleen Kennedy, The Tracking Board reports that the duo's animated Spider-Man movie has added two new cast members.
According to the site, Atlanta's Brian Tyree Henry will provide the voice of Miles Morales' detective father, Jefferson Davis, while Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Luke Cage) will play Spidey's uncle, Aaron Davis. We had previously heard that Ice-Cube was up for the role of Jefferson, but obviously that didn't pan out.
Bob Persichetti is set to helm the picture, with Peter Ramsey (Rise of the Guardians) on board to co-direct. It's been confirmed that this will be a standalone project, and won't be set in the same continuity as the main MCU films.
Written by Phil Lord and executive produced by Lord and Chris Miller, the animated Spider-Man movie is due to open December 21, 2018.
