SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE Now Confirmed To Feature An Appearance From THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

We first caught sight on The Spectacular Spider-Man's Peter Parker on a poster for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, but a new promo has confirmed the web-slinger will be part of the sequel as well.

We had a inkling this might happen, but it's finally been confirmed (via Toonado.com) that The Spectacular Spider-Man's titular web-slinger will appear in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

A blurry screengrab from a recent TV spot (which you can watch below) started doing the rounds on social media, only for Matt McDonald, a lighter/composer at Sony Imageworks who worked on this sequel, to confirm that is who we think it is. Whether he'll do more than appear in the background obviously remains to be seen!

"I put a lot of extra effort into making him stay true to his Spectacular style," the artist says. "Hoping there is a larger resolution soon."

Fans first caught sight of this Spider-Man Variant in a poster for the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel; however, this footage makes it clear he'll also be part of the movie itself.

Greg Weisman was showrunner on The Spectacular Spider-Man between 2008 and 2009, and Josh Keaton voiced Peter Parker across all 26 episodes. Despite being a hit with fans and critics alike, the series was cancelled amid legal issues between Disney and Sony Pictures Television.

Fans have long hoped for a revival, but this looks set to be the next best thing...

Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence.

But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

The movie stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Karan Soni, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Greta Lee, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham, and Oscar Isaac.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to be released in theaters on June 2, 2023.

Easily the best adaptation of Spider-Man and one of the best versions of the character period.

@bobevanz - I have a soft spot for that show, but it has not aged gracefully, the animation gets embarrassingly cheap, the voice acting is all over the place and almost every episode has some dodgy writing.

Marvel was so stupid for cancelling his show more than 14 years ago.

@NinnesMBC - why does everything Greg Wiseman does gets cancelled

His shows are always top notch but they never go beyond season 2

Gargoyles, he was removed after season 2 and they ruined season 3
Spiderman 2 seasons
Young justice 2 season, then revived, then cancelled after another 2 seasons

@dracula - Forgot for a moment he was involved with Gargoyles. It really does suck and I was too little to tell back then that he was changed as showrunner.

There was some legal issues dispute between Marvel and Sony apparently that led to Spectacular being cancelled.

And Young Justice being cancelled again is just another middle finger from the new cheap ass WBD regime because Zaslav also hates animation. How the hell did Gunn convince him that they're gonna have animated content as well for their new brand and shiny full-profit DCU is beyond me.

You know what else that a-hole is know for being cheap for? Basic storage of costumes. This weekend during a con in UK, StarFury Conventions if I'm not mistaken, that involved many DCTV/Arrowverse actors (well mostly the ladies, the only guy that atteneded it was Tyler Hoechlin) Brec Bassinger revealed that after Stargirl ended all of ther suits were burned to "protect the integrity of the show" and so they wouldn't end up on e-bay and being sold to third parties.

Talk about a load of [frick]ing bullshit. It's cheaper to get rid of things instead of storing them in their countless werehouses they have that they later display them in exhibitions like they do with Smallville's Green Arrow costume and many others from DC TV. But for some weird ass reason Geoff Johns' passion project in honor of his late sister gets turned to ash.

[frick] Zaslav seriously. This is how we're supposed to get behind his DCU?

Feeling like reporting this @KingPatel? I will even share this funny pic of all the attendes at the con.

@NinnesMBC - seriously?

What the hell.

Must have filmed her Titans cameo during filming of season 3 then

If they dont want to store them, at least auction stuff off. Lots of shows have done that

@dracula - Her cameo in Titans was shot after Season 3 wrapped in March, around the 20th of September or so. She and the rest were done with S3 for months by then and some of the cast were busy in other projects, herself included but given how short her role in Titans was she was able to do it in one day.

Indeed, like Legends did it last year on August. It was said to be a massive auction covering 7 Seasons of props, costumes, set decorations and wardrobe.

Everyone is collectively pissed off about the news. Typical WBD L that bodes so well for the future /s.
