SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE Said To Be Just As Good, If Not Better, Than 2018's INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was released to overwhelmingly positive reviews in 2018 and, after becoming a box office hit, the animated movie later won an Oscar.

As a "Best Animated Picture" winner, Miles Morales' big screen debut is in a league of its own and the only superhero movie to earn such a significant non-acting prize from the Academy. It was well-deserved, of course, but the pressure is now on this summer's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse to live up to its predecessor.

That will be no easy feat, though we know the follow-up will feature a lot of different Spider-Heroes and an unexpected pair of antagonists in the form of Spider-Man 2099 and The Spot.

Recently, reliable insider @bigscreenleaks was asked what they've heard about Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and responded (via Toonado.com), "I’ve heard it’s just as good [as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse] if not better."

As with any social media claim, we're taking this with a pinch of salt for now, but the movie being as good as its predecessor is no bad thing, especially as topping what many feel is the best Spider-Man movie ever made would be no easy feat.

Regardless, this news is bound to be welcomed by fans concerned by recent reports that the sequel was plagued by issues behind the scenes. You can find more details about that by clicking here.

In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, after reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence.

However, when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to be released in theaters on June 2, 2023!
