Jamie Foxx Drops Revealing Plot Point For AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

Jamie Foxx Drops Revealing Plot Point For AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

Perhaps Electro isn't actually a villain in the Amazing Spider-Man 2? Or at the very least he doesn't start out that way according to actor Jamie Foxx. If so, can we safely assume that there will be a third antagonist in the film?

"You'll see that in his whole life, no one is talking to [Electro]. People have stolen his ideas at the big company. He's a nobody. At a certain point, Spider-Man bumps into him and says, 'You're my guy. You're my eyes and ears on the street.' And he says his name — no one has ever said [Max] Dillon's name."

"He sort of starts thinking that somehow, he's Spider-Man's partner." Fox went on to say. The Academy Award winning actor would also add however, that from there, Dillon undergoes a series on unfortunate events that lead to him becoming the ne'er-do-well comic book fans are familiar with.

"When it turns on, he lights it up," the actor teased.

Foxx goes on to talk about the costume but its essentially a rehash from what was previously reported earlier today.

Interesting, so it sounds like Max Dillon will be an unheralded employee at Oscorp who starts out as an ally of Spider-Man before becoming a villain. The Amazing Spider-Man sequel, rumored to be titled The Spectacular Spider-Man starts filming in February for a release date of May 2, 2014.

Play him up to be the villain. Then have Green Goblin come in and kill Gwen.

Well Electro never really did have an interesting backstory so I hope they do something good with him. Sucks that were getting another scientist/smart guy though. This franchise really needs the Kingpin to be involved in some sense.

Wow, if all of this is true, Foxx will be worse than Sir Michael Caine about giving out spoilers.

Sounds very interesting. Almost how I pictured a Vulture backstory if they ever did it on the big screen (which they still won't). I can't wait to see what they do.

im with everyone saying "oh great another paint by numbers emo "villain"" - but i have hope for this one. you never know what they have up their sleeve.

there better be another villain tho. i don't think electro can support a movie on his own. Tombstone, Kingpin or Osborn must be featured in some way. would be frickin awesome if they introduce doc ock, pre-accident, and set up for a sinister six with lizard, electro, doc ock, and 3 others (kraven, scorpion, rhino- i can see them fitting into this cross species DNA theme they have going. scorpion and doc ock take the genetics one step further and add technology)

the way I see it is that Max Dillon will be working foor Oscorp and invents something that Oscorp will take credit for and then fire him, this will make him lust for revenge against Norman and when the "accident" happens, he will go after Osborn only to be stopped by Spidey and then the shenanigans start.
I have great faith in this sequel, TAS was "meh", nothing special except improved special effects nothing more and no more SYMPATHETIC VILLAINS..Electro should be an EVIL villain who just wants revenge and to be recognised for his work

Are they just doing Dr.Connors again? Man spends a while bitching about something friendly with Spiderman then accidentally becomes Electro???

Why not just go with him being a hired muscle from Osbourne like the ultimate version of electro (cept that was kingpin who hired him)

Usually studios wouldn't allow actors to disclosed so much information about the movie. Either Jamie Foxx doesn't care or he's just feeding us disinformation. He may well be playing Norman Osborn and keep it a secret.

@maskman Sony confirmed he was electro and why would his son be white? If he was white but darker and had black hair then maybe but dehaan has blonde/brunette hair so I really don't see that

I hope this is true cause then they would have made an uninteresting character interesting and it gives me hope for the movie. While, I don't think all villains should be sympathetic, I do feel they make for the more interesting villains ala The Lizard (my favorite comicbook villain). If they do make him sympathetic, then we will definitely get the insanity of the Green Goblin in movie 3. If they go the route with Electro that Jamie Foxx is saying then while he would be a sympathetic villain, it would still be different from the villains in the previous movies.

I can't believe he just laid out the plot bit by bit. I felt uncomfortable for him knowing that Sony will prob be pissed about it. But whatever, I'm happy for the details and he's Jamie Foxx. He can do what he wants

@Spidey31 you made valid points. Harry could be adopted, but that would severed the father/son relationship a bit.

I guess Jamie Fox just doesn't care and decided to give away the first hour of the movie.

Can we have a villain in a Spider-Man film that's actually a full blown villain ? Not misunderstood , not a good guy deep down corrupted by power etc. I want a bad ass villain !!!

Great actor, awful casting
Forget the fact they got a black actor as a white character, Electro could be Indian for all I care; visually Foxx looks to big framed/muscular for the role, I personally always thought he'd look lean and wirey, a bit bigger Spider-Man...

Anyway, I didn't like the 1st one, and probably won't like this; they've got their work cut out to impress me... Genuinely a stupid idea on Sony's part to reboot a stable series...

So here we have yet another sympathetic villain. This is something I'm really tired of seeing in modern movies- the sympathetic or empathic villain who's just made a couple of bad decisions or whatever. Why can't the villain just be an asshole? There are plenty of those in the world, and what do you think an asshole who got superpowers would do with them? Think about it. Most of the best comic book villains are assholes of one form or another. I want a villain that we're cheering while we see the hero beat him back to the Stone Age, not a villain I feel sorry for.
