Kevin Feige Responds To Rumors That 'Spider-Man' Is Set To Join THE AVENGERS

While Marvel's reveal of their full slate of upcoming movies was obviously huge, many fans expected Kevin Feige to confirm recent rumours that Spider-Man will appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What did he say when asked about whether it's going to happen?

What a day! With everything from Black Panther casting news to the reveal of a full slate of Marvel releases, there's enough to keep us all going for a very long time. However, conspicuous by his absence was Spider-Man. With Civil War officially kicking off in Captain America 3, and Thanos taking centre stage in a two-part Avengers epic, where does this leave the Sony owned character who has been rumoured to be making the leap to Marvel Studios? Kevin Feige was asked exactly that today, and responded with the following: "Anything that wasn’t specifically and obviously revealed today is either not true at all, or still rumor until it’s worked out." While it would be easy to read into how he ends that sentence (Marvel and Sony must be coming to a deal!), let's look at this logically for a second. Captain America 3 isn't setting up Civil War for a future Avengers movie; it's an adaptation of that storyline which will involve Black Panther and have to address the hunt for Bucky. Will Marvel really shoehorn Spidey into all of that? Probably not, and though he might make an appearance in the two-part Avengers movie, do Marvel need him? No! What do you think?

I thought we weren't getting Spiderman in the MCU?

I swear, if Marvel gets him after civil war....

It's still in the works. Sony needs Marvel badly. Marvel does not need Spidey, but wants him badly. It's all in how things are structured.

I really hope this is not the case. I can't stand Spiderman anymore (blame Sony).

After the brand destruction Sony have done to Spiderman, the character is fit for nothing better than a TV series. Really.

All the characters we have going on now and in the future of the MCU are much more promising and awesome than Spiderman.

I will honestly be quite disappointed and sour if we get Sonyman to stain the MCU.

Punisher will pop up in the Netflix shows somewhere. It would've been cool if they announced a Defenders movie today. Oh well.

Sony Studios has been having financial issues for years Disney should just buy Sony Studios as a whole. But it does sound like they are trying to come to some kind of deal or at least in talks.

Give us Spider-Man. Or more importantly, Mysterio. Adapting Guardian Devil into the DD Netflix show will be hard without him.

Marvel NEEDS spider-man. If they can get his rights back, they'll make much better use of him than Sony did. Both amazing spiderman movies were horrendously awful. He needs to be done justice, and Marvel would do that.

Even just a swing-by of Spidey fighting or assisting someone would be awesome...Spidey deserves better than what's he's been getting.

I think Marvel is in a great spot here. They don't NEED Spidey back, so they can take their time negotiating. Sony, on the other hand, has no idea what they're doing. They'll eventually give up and sell Marvel back the rights, and Marvel will slowly work him into their plans - when it makes sense to do so and not before.

What if Spiderman is involved, BUT it is not Peter Parker?!?!

DO NOT FORGET, the Russo Brothers were EPs/showrunners of Community, which Donald was on, for three season.

Spider-Man and Fantastic Four would both be great additions to the MCU, but they're not so much needed due to the fact their films are very much built to be an Avengers series with even Guardians of the Galaxy tying into the overall story

The fact he said "until it's worked out" tells us that some shit is going down.
