KRAVEN THE HUNTER Adds WHITE LOTUS & PAM AND TOMMY Actor Fred Hechinger As Chameleon

Sony Pictures' upcoming Kraven the Hunter movie has found its Chameleon, with up-and-coming White Lotus actor Fred Hechinger set to play the villain opposite Aaron Taylor Johnson as the titular antihero.

Following a recent report that The Power of The Dog Oscar nominee Kodi Smit-McPhee was offered the part of the villainous Chameleon in Kraven the Hunter, it's now come to light that Sony Pictures has cast Fred Hechinger in the role.

While Deadline stresses that his character hasn't been confirmed, the trade believes that Hechinger "will play the brother of Kraven, aka Chameleon, in the movie."

In the comics, Dmitri Smerdyakov was Kraven's half-brother and the very first adversary of Spider-Man. Sergei Kravinoff was often abusive towards Smerdyakov, but if Chameleon is indeed set to be the principal antagonist, we can probably expect their positions to be reversed.

Kick-Ass and Avengers: Age of Ultron actor Aaron Taylor Johnson will play Kraven, while Russell Crowe recently joined the cast in an undisclosed role.

Hechinger can currently be seen in a supporting role in Hulu's Pam and Tommy, but has also appeared in the likes of White Lotus, Fear Street, The Woman in The Window, and Tom Hanks western The News of The World.

J.C. Chandor (Triple Frontier; A Most Violent Year) will direct Kraven from a screenplay from Art Marcum, Matt Holloway (Iron Man; Uncharted) and Richard Wenk (The Equalizer; Jack Reacher: Never Go Back). The movie is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on January 13, 2023.

I would like this film to go in the trash so we can get a proper Kraven in the MCU with him hunting Spider-Man.

This garbage solo film that no one asked for can GTFO

The only reason I'm going to give Morbius a chance is to see where in the multiverse these spin-offs are set seeing how we see the TASM Oscorp logo in the trailer as well as the Raimiverse Daily Bugle logo.

I liked Fred Hechinger in Fear Street but I haven't seen his other work. Plus, didn't we see a variant of Dmitri in Far from Home?

@MovieMonster - a lot of dudes can be called Dmitri, but I am kinda hoping he'll eventually show up as Chameleon.

As for Morbius, I'm gonna leave figuring out what the movie is gonna be to others. Maybe I'll catch it on streaming eventually (if the reviews are good)

Between upcoming Morbius which I do wanna check out, the Madame Webb news with Dakota Johnson 2 weeks ago I had completely forgotten this Sony spin-off was in the works.

Neutral on the casting so far, but I am curious about Russell Crowe's role.

Sony decided to pillage Spidey's animal-based villain roster for franchise fuel but somehow decided that their big game hunter would be best served fighting a dude who's power is looking like other dudes

@TheWalkingCuban - the only casting news I want is Maguire and Garfield in sequels to their respective franchises, but instead I'm getting Chameleon and Madame Web castings of spin-offs of which I'm not even sure what it spinning off of.

@TheWalkingCuban - *slams table* Exactly!

Shouldn't be that hard I assume. They wanna do movies with certain villains, so why not even just pit them against a Spider-Man?
TheWalkingCuban
TheWalkingCuban - 2/22/2022, 6:21 PM
@bkmeijer - dude. Venom, Morbius, Kraven, and others against the 3 Spidey’s that aren’t Tom! Instead I’m waiting on my call back, no complaints I need the money

The first black Cuban Hammerhead! We’re going with a Cuban mafia/Scarface take.
Watch this space. If they want a trilogy I’ll have to clear my schedule, anything more than that is probably clear.
