Madame Web wrapped filming in New York City earlier this month (you can check out a new logo below), and star Dakota Johnson was asked about her time shooting the Sony Pictures Spider-Man spin-off while chatting to Variety at the Sundance Film Festival.

Though the Fifty Shades of Grey actress didn't reveal any new plot details, she did confirm that principal photography had been completed, before saying that she found working on the "SPUMC" movie to be a "wild experience."

"I don't think you can be prepped to go into anything like that, but I learned so much," she added.

Johnson also caused a stir by making a joke about disgraced Call Me By Your Name actor Armie Hammer while paying tribute to director Luca Guadagnino, who she worked with on Suspiria.

You can check out both videos below.

Johnson will play the titular clairvoyant hero in Madame Web, alongside Isabela Merced, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O'Connor, and more.

S.J. Clarkson (The Defenders) is directing from a screenplay by Morbius scribes Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.

Madame Web is set to hit theaters on February 16, 2024.

The wildest part was probably when she found out that the film isn’t the MCU and her agent lied to her.

Haven’t seen any footage so the quality could be good or bad, but I wonder what the box office results will be for this.

I guess Morbius playing out like that one universe ending Dracula film wasn’t enough to overshadow venom’s success, but come on. Venom has inherent appeal. They proved you can make terrible Venom films and make profit. They’re misunderstanding the other properties: they’re unknown. And Black Adam proved you can have a (waning) star and bomb.

Sony. Haha!

The comments Dakota makes are unrelated, but throwing shade reminds me a lot of David Ayer. Had the balls to diss Marvel, yet came up with a pretty bad movie himself.

Hope Madame Web is a great movie. If that rumoured premise is anything to go by, nothing could indeed prepare us for this Terminator-like movie.

@bkmeijer1 - so it'll be cold and emotionless and might kill me if I see it?

Boy this cast is stacked with some talent. Let's hope the final product delivers.

Not gonna lie, I've wanted a Madame Web film since this whole Sony vs. Marvel business first began. Of course, that was back when I thought that the competition would help both parties elevate their content (instead of both properties realizing that the lowest common denominator was lower than expected and gave them more leeway to produce less-than-stellar content). I thought it could be interesting to see the Supernatural side to spidey explored more thoroughly since the comic attempts always seemed interesting, but poorly executed.

There is still hope for this one, in my eyes.

@TheRose - Then why did you never state you wanted a Madame Web movie prior to it being announced?

@EskimoJ - I'm not one to usually campaign for any particular property to be made. I've accepted that the way that I would write and structure is probably vastly different from what a major studio would handle things. Rather than shout at the clouds and wish that they would have done things my way, I just try to enjoy what is produced be hopeful that upcoming projects are good. I'll occasionally post my own ideas, dreams, and desires for these franchises, but I don't feel the need to share every one of my thoughts online. They usually aren't refined enough to be worth sharing.

That said, the general setup I had in mind was about 6 or 7 years back, when Sony was going back-and-forth about plans for "Silver & Black." I thought Venom was going to take on Carnage is his first movie and I thought Carnage would die. I wanted Silver and Black to be a sort of "Smokin' Aces" or "Lucky Number Slevin" gang-war film with lots of B & C-listers chewing up the scenery. Madame Web would have shown up in a Post Credit, enlisting Silver Sable and Black Cat for a follow-up supernatural caper caper where they would need to steal Peter's identity from hell as they took on an undead Carnage Family (Carnage, Carrion, Demogoblin, Shriek, Doppleganger). Madame Web would then enlist their help to find Spider-Man, who was multiversally missing and forgotten from the Sony Universe (it was a long convoluted idea to explain how Spider-Man existed in the MCU but his contained universe was elsewhere. It would deal with Morlun and the hunt for Spider-Totems).

So yea, there's a reason I'm not a Holllywood writer. But a boy can dream...

Based on the Sony Spiderverse with no Spider-Man films track records I’m expecting this to be ridiculous and probably mediocre to bad. But I hope they can start making these spin-offs better than what we’ve been getting. Sometimes it feels like Sony’s ok with making money on half assed movies.

@slickrickdesigns - work with joker probably reason they think they can get some movies like that all I can see working is morbiois and venom others hard to say and don’t care for it’s venom I really cared for to see I like it better than venom Spider-Man 3 Todd like it is it perfect no it’s mix combination of ultimate venom and lethal protector I keep telling myself that it’s acceptable for me I would like to see venom in day shot for once as james Ralph ( angry video game nerd- cinemas Safire YouTube channel) always said I never noticed Godzilla always fights in night time never day bright scenes of his movies
