Marc Webb And Andrew Garfield On THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Main Villain Electro

Talking about Electro (Jamie Foxx) Marc Webb stated, "We wanted some theatricality for this villain. What makes him interesting is the really ironic evolution of the character. He starts off as Spider-Man's biggest fan and ends up being Spider-Man's biggest foe."

Webb went on to talk more about Electro, specifically how designers created his glowing, electrified look. "We shot his exterior and then created a glowing light source that is buried deep within his core that exudes and generates electric light. If you look at a cloud when a thunderstorm is coming and the lightning is within that cloud, we use that as a natural inspiration for the character."

And what does Electro bring to the table in terms of combat and conflict with Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield)? "Electro is a god in terms of the power that he wields", said the Peter Parker actor. Garfield added, "To be faced with that creates a whole host of problems, obstacles and drama. That's great to have between those two people."

Webb briefly teased a new state of mind for Spider-Man in the sequel. "That's going to be a side of him you'll want to relish," said Webb on the fun Spider-Man has this time around. He continued, "This time, there's a jollity we've really embraced." Nice to hear as the The Amazing Spider-Man was decidedly dark and dare I say a tad bit emo. It helps that this time around, it looks as if the bulk of Spider-Man's adventures will be taking place in daylight rather than at night.

And on Oscorp, Webb simply stated, "Oscorp is the evil empire and will always be a major player in these films."

I'm sure Electro(Jamie Foxx) will be one of the highlights of the film. I am getting impatient waiting for this trailer to show up.

So far, my hopes have been risen then dropped again. Just like the last film. Rhino's Zord form, Goblin's crappy new design, Spidey shopping and wearing fireman's helmets and some videogame CGI has me worried. I hope I won't have to settle for 'meh' again.

Never was a fan of the tone in the last film, so I'm freaking happy about the change. Other than Green Goblins design, everything sounds good in book for a dope Spider-Man film.

I dig it all. I wish more comic fans were readers of the Ultimate series so they wouldn't be so confused at what they're seeing. Bendis' touch is all over this movie, and I like it.

@Pending You jump right to a negative conclusion that nobody would point fingers at Oscorp without even knowing what they plan on doing in the movie.....o lawd.

FYI...

People need to not get bent about Rhino...we've seen Paul Giamatti in a cgi suit construction that stands up...

So clearly his Rhino suit is a transformer!!! I like the idea of it turning into a Rhino to charge...and human form to fight...

Get on board...

@Pending I do feel if they have three more villains come out of Oscorp and nobody even questions it, then I totally agree with you.

Grif...a...legend?

Never seen the guy form a sentence. Should take more than that.

If I wanted to see hate for this movie, at least bring LEVI back, guy knew how to bash good movies!

Trailer tomorrow should be epic, saw the Russian bootleg, and it looked (from what I could make out watching it on iPhone) awesome. I think the Goblin design will surprise everyone.

I'm sorry to be so blunt in advance, but as it's written right now, this article doesn't seriously make justice to what it was actually posted on USA Today today.

USA Today has turned their main logo into Spider-Man's face logo and published a very cool sneak peek for The Amazing Spider-Man, there's an interview with Andrew Garfield and Marc Webb about the film, along with some very informative info around the film, without been too much spoilerish.

The link for the sneak peek is at the end of the article, but I seriously suggest people to check out the original USA Today article because it's that [frick]ing awesome.

At least LEVI was entertaining. Reading the word shit over and over gets tiring. The trolls could at least get a little more creative.

I wonder who will make up the sinister six in future films? I'm guessing Rhino, Electro, Green Goblin, Shocker, Mysterio?, and Doc Ock?

When people say movies are dark I don't think of terms scenes taking place at night. I think more in terms of the theme of the movie. That aside I don't why people complained about the night scenes. Peter was in high school so it's not like he could skip school to play hero. And if he goes to college after words he would be having classes during the day as well so most of his time being Spidey would have to be at night.

SWelch - 12/4/2013, 7:58 AM
Also like to add at night Spider-Man can use his abilities to for stealth. In the comics he would sneak up on the bad guy because at night he would be hard to see him in the dark.

Kevin Feige called me, you will get your paycheck.

TASM wasn't a good movie, I agree. But there is no reason into hating movies that aren't released yet just because you have a lot of faith in Marvel Studios. I have a lot of faith in Marvel Studios too but I like to judge AFTER I see a movie.
But this is just one woman's opinion. Have a nice day!

The Amazing Spider-Man was one of my favorite cbm's of all time, and I'm sure TASM2 will be even better.

It's amusing to see all the rejects and morons in this forum refer to a movie they've never seen as a shit movie. Obviously trying to make up for their abundant inadequacies.
