When The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was released, it was believed that Marc Webb would return to helm The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Leaked Sony emails seemed to indicate that Sony weren't happy with his demands for more money, so whether or not that would have happened isn't clear, but it's a moot point now that Marvel Studios are rebooting the franchise with a new director and actor.
In the video below, Webb shares his thoughts on not returning to the franchise and expresses his excitement about what Marvel has planned. He remains good natured throughout, though the interviewer doesn't really push him on how he really felt about being dropped from the franchise.
