Spider-Man: No Way Home briefly lost the #1 spot to Scream a few weeks ago, but it's been dethroned for (presumably) the final time in North America this weekend. Jackass Forever has opened at the top of the domestic box office with an estimated $20+ million debut, a franchise low for the series. However, turning a profit won't be hard considering it only cost $10 million to make.
Critics have awarded Jackass Forever an impressive 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, while it's earned a B+ CinemaScore from moviegoers.
Second place is a little harder to call right now as it looks like it's going to be a battle between Spider-Man: No Way Home and Roland Emmerich's Moonfall. Both are eyeing around $9 million, though the sci-fi blockbuster currently has the advantage. With 42% on Rotten Tomatoes and a C+ CinemaScore, word of mouth is unlikely to be very good, so Spidey could pip it to the post.
Scream and Sing 2 round out the top five, and all eyes are likely to be on Uncharted a couple of weeks from now. But since that's only tracking for a $25 million - $35 million opened weekend, we're not anticipating the box office blowing up with a huge hit until The Batman swoops into theaters next month.
Still, there's something for everyone out at the moment and it's amazing to see how well Spider-Man: No Way Home continues to perform so long after it was first released way back in December.
